I won't vote because it just feeds the machine that is the media.

This story is so stupid and the media is seriously reaching.

Translation, "I have alot of money tied up in Upton cards, so I don't care if he rapes kids in the crowd between innings! It is the media making up stories! Upton can do know wrong!"

Prospectors in these polls ALWAYS vote according to their own intrests! ALWAYS! Believe me, I am with you on the media hate, but look in the mirror!

My point is if this were Luis Castillo, or someone you don't have money invested in, you would vote yes, and say the guy was disrespectful!

The fact that the fans mocked the team and upton when he DID make a play, shows their "maturity" as well. Those fans should be ashamed of themselves for not being able to look past an error, and failing to continue to believe in their team. Fair-weather fans in a nutshell, IMO.

not exactly.

You must not have seen the 3 previous errors which cost about 6 runs that inning.

not to mention, it was upton's second error in 2 days.

Fans have every right to boo him and the team. We're the ones paying their salaries, and for you to say we should feel ashamed is ignorant of what it means to be a sports fan and wrong.

but I do agree, AZ has the biggest fairweather fans possibly anywhere in the country

I think it's funny how some fans get so up in arms about this stuff. Do fans have the right to boo? Yeah, but c'mon, at some point aren't you just alienating the players on the team you're supposed to support? A team or player struggles, the fans bitch and boo in the stands, on the radio, on the internet. The players can't do that, they can't do anything other than keep playing. They have to act unhuman, showing no negativity towards the people that are supposed to be supporting them, who now have become their tormenters.

Didn't BJ have similar maturity issues when he was younger? I may be mistaken but I think he sucked at defense as well.

The kid is 21. Most 21 year olds are still in A-AA. His bat is so good that they are willing to put up with bad defense and a little immaturity. That being said, he really needs to work on that defense because it is pretty awful.

He's pretty much getting pissy with the fans when he has absolutely no reason to.

He has no reason to be frustrated???....When the people whom are "supposed" to be in your corner & support you decide to BOO you, make fun of you, mock you, & whatever other act's of immaturity those pathetic excuse's for "fan's" took part in, that Upton had to endure for committing an error or 2...and you don't think Upton should be aloud to to be frustrated??? :| ::facepalm::
Seriously, the people that claim what Upton did was immature or take it to mean anything more than what it was really need to grow some thicker skin (he taunted the crowd by acting as if he would toss them a baseball....& this made the news ::facepalm::  ).... I really "WISH" that ALL the player's would take out thier frustration's the way Upton did as the sport would be whole lot better than it is today!

But seriously, HPC, from what you've written in this thread & how you're taking this "incident" it sounds as if you were the person that would have caught the ball or something (as you sound pretty ticked)....The ball would have only sat on your dresser taking up space, it really isn't worth getting this upset over bud! ;) Just kidding bud! :D

I'll take a fake toss over Albert Belle or Rob Dibble hitting fans with balls any day.

He's the best hitter/athlete on your team, I'm not sure why the fans would mock him of all people.

 You've got to be kidding right??? Booing player's because we as fan's are frustrated does NOT make it right (or the mature thing to do)! And yes, it actually does show the fan's level of maturity for displaying that level disrespect (or thier level of sobriety, which intoxicated people usually are the poster-children for immaturity, disrespect, & ignorance). :D

Both Uptons were rushed and in the bigs by 19, B.J. played SS, could make spectacular plays, but made too many errors. He probably should have been moved off the position much sooner, but instead they kept moving him around to 2B, 3B, then finally CF, where he has thrived for the most part, improving rapidly. The old Rays management didn't handle him, or other players, very well, and he showed some immaturity, not on the Delmon Young level though. He did get popped for a DUI back in the day too, so that didn't show him in a good light. I think he got unfarily lumped in with the behavior of Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes though. He had the benchings for not hustling last year, but that situation seems to have worked itself out. Justin was converted to CF after he signed, then was switched to RF before his callup because of the presence of Chris Young. So he's been playing the OF for about 2 and a half seasons, RF for a little over a season and a half. He makes some great plays, but still makes mistakes of inexperience. He has improved though, and probably will continue to do so.

Had I been there I wouldve since my seats are front row!!!!

Im frustrated with the whole team like anyone else who is a fan should be.

But, if Upton (or any other ML'er for that matter) cant take people booing and mocking them, then maybe they should consider another profession :|

I remember playing HS baseball was brutal but I didnt get pissed off at the fans or people watching.

But he DID take people booing & mocking him, as he didn't do anything out-of-line to show otherwise. And honestly, did Upton say he was frustrated or did the media take the action as a frustrated act? He could've done it jokingly (but then it wouldn't be newsworthy...ho-hum, actually this wasn't newsworthy in the first place)! :D

Of course it was inappropriate...players should know they will be boo'd for missing a routine play..it's all part of the game. His actions were wrong.

Now make his card values go down 50% so i will buy one...

Justin Upton is Ken Griffey Jr to the bone. Exactly something that a young Griff would have done.

As far as Boos and stuff go, if you don't want them to Boo you, don't give them something to boo about. Upton certainly did that now.

His teammates on the 2 plays before him made 2 errors, so that certianly didn't help him at all when he made his error.

I think you forgot sarcasm marks.

Not even close to what a young Griffey would have done.

Beyond pure ability, Upton is not "a young Griff".
