WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... The great thing about it is that the Devils will be able to sign Kovy long term.... I would hate to see Bergfors as he finally got his chance to show what he's got and he's done a great job. I have a feeling Bruins announcers are just saying that.... My cousin works for the Devils and this is what he said he heard

Oduya
Clarkston
Prospect
1st Rounder

Any guesses on the prospect? Names that have popped up on Twitter include: Cormier, Tedenby and Palmieri.

My guess is Palmieri. Cormier has baggage, and Tedenby is a level above the other two.

There's always a chance we get Bergfors back.... he's a free agent in the summer too but I find it unlikely if we try and sign Kovy long-term

Terrible return for Atlanta. The pick will be late first round, Cormier may never see ice, Bergfors could turn around and leave and Oduya is fluff. But will Kovy even shine in an offense like Jerseys?

He really felt like NJ was his home and like I said before he may just go right back this summer... As for Kovy in the offense.... Parise is going to be across from him and Zajac is one of the best shot set up centers in the league so even taking Zajac out of the equation you've got Parise on one side and Kovy on the other... just Nasty

Is Bergfors a UFA or RFA?

I don't think that the Thrashers got a great return for Kovalchuk, but I think they backed themselves in a corner.

As probably the lone thrashers fan on the board I can say goodby kovy! Good luck in the KHL next year because no team will give him a max deal much less 101 million over 12 years. Getting what we did for him, I will take it. With that kind of money being offered and not taking it he either 1) didn't really want to be a "thrasher for life" 2) his agent is an idiot and is misreading the market or 3) the KHL is all over him and in his agent's ear about what they will pay him next year

Wow this sure is a shocker

I never even knew that New Jersey was a front runner for Kovy. I agree with lumm0x too, couldn't Atlanta have gotten something better? The best part of the deal for Atlanta is the 1st rounder, but being a late first rounder probably close to 30th it isn't really that big of a deal. Atlanta should have traded him in the off season or right after the season began, would have got more for him. I just cant picture Kovy in a Devils jersey. Oh well, unless the Devils win the Cup in June, the big winners will be whoever signs him on July 1st/2010.

Oh Canada......
With his rumored contract demands.... I wouldn't have touched Kovalchuk with a 50 foot pole, then again as a rental he might take jersey over the top.... but that much for a rental?!? :?

Shep :ugeek:
