I know these types of posts (unless prospect related) don't usually go over well...but I can't explain how elated I am to see Victor playing the way he is given the way last season was for him...injury plagued and NO offensive numbers to speak of.

Tribe is sucking it up but I'm glad to see Victor back in Silver Slugger form.

Not sure what his contract is like, but Tribe should trade him asap and see if they can get a decent prospect for him.

Hate to burst your bubble, but as long as Baby Jesus is in the American League your boy V-Mart will NOT be winning a Silver Slugger and/or Batting title....

I assume you're referring to Mauer?

I don't expect Victor to win a batting title...but unless something catastrophic happens (knock on wood), Mauer ain't touchin' Silver Slugger this year.

I am HUGE Indians fan and LOVE V-Mart but I have to agree. With Santana coming up and Shoppach holding down the fort when needed, I wouldn't be opposed to it. If we can bring a nice starter, consider it done.

Friendly wager...?

$25 eBay gift card to the winner?

Nullified if either player doesn't finish the season for some reason...

Move him to first. VMart is clearly 20x the hitter Hafner or Garko is.

I know you shouldn't count on prospects but first seems to be a tied for the future, LaPorta won't stand in the outfield (I don't think) Nick Weglarz, Beau Mills and LaPorta should/could all be fighting tooth and nail for first next year... Just my thoughts, I am not in the Indians front office..

Hafner hasn't played first in years, and Garko is lucky to get playing time these days due to an idiot manager. Even when he does play he's splitting time between the corner outfield spots and 1st. Thanks to Wedge first base is being shared by Garko, LaPorta, DeRosa, and Martinez already. Besides, Victor's value as a fulltime 1st baseman is marginal compared to his value as a fulltime catcher (that is, unless he keeps up his offensive onslaught).

On a side note, Victor has hit like this before. It is not unrealistic to think that he could beat out "Baby Jesus" in batting average and in slugging. Not in the slightest.
