Not sure what the laws are in other parts of the country, but hobby sellers are not allowed to sell retail boxes in Illinois.

Really, my local shop has some of the Panini Certified basketball retail boxes for sale.

I have hit Super's of Hosmer Auto, Marisnick, and Higashioka now... These things are crazy.
But you've also opened hundreds of them, correct?
400+-

3 supers in 400 packs.. not bad.... :?

That is sick actually, because that is 2 cases worth of BC packs and 3 supers, I opened 20 cases and hit one super.

Straight killing it..

Panini has their own ways of distributing their product I guess.

My LCS owner told me he is not allowed to sell retail boxes.

If you were just paying for the packs then certainly not. At $15 per, 400 is about $6,000. That's approximately (give or take 1) 10 cases. 3 supers is still good for 10 cases, don't get me wrong. But it's a hell of a risk when you likely aren't going to get that much else to help recoup any funds. Add in the fact that no one really knew these were going to contain hits and it becomes that much harder to accumulate. Though if someone has opened 400 I guess that's not necessarily as much of a problem as I figured

Here was my post on BO... The idea that these are a huge risk is just wrong...

Rough numbers...

I have opened exactly 480 boxes for a total of $5960.

I have sold my codes for an average of $2.65 each, sold 685 and have 110 more to sell that will go for at least that. That is $2106

I have 450 Red and Silver Harpers, at minimum they are worth $675

I have 30 Gold Harpers, at minimum they are $6, that is $180

So that is $2960 just from codes and Harper's, basically 1/2 my money that was guaranteed.

Here are some of the bigger hits I have got...

Harper Throwback /99
Harper Refractor /500
Matt Moore Auto
Dykstra Printing Plate Auto
Dykstra Orange Auto
Ethan Martin Gold Auto
(2) Chris Archer Blue Auto's
Aaron Hicks Blue Auto
Aroldis Chapman Chrome Orange
Starling Marte Ref Auto /500
Manny Banuelos Auto
Albert Almora Orange Auto
Elmer Reyes Plate 1/1
Yovani Gallardo Plate 1/1
About 20 other chrome Auto's
About 15 Chrome Parallel's that were $10-15

Thats another $800+ from just those cards

Now I am down to $2000

From Topps Update
Koufax Auto
Hosmer Auto
Lincecum/Wilson Dual Jersey
15 Hope Blues
20 Jersey's
3 Crap Auto's

Thats around $400, so down to $1600

About 3,000 Topps inserts, at minimum that is $500, so we are to $1100

Topps Variation inserts, about 100 total counting diamonds, that is $200 at least, so now $900

So for the final $1,000 lets say, I have all of the base Chrome, Chrome Inserts, Base Topps. From Topps update I hit about 40 of each player, so for example 40 Trouts is $50. 80 total Hosmer's is close to $100. I have around 10-15 Chrome and Chrome inserts of Harper, Lawrie, etc.

All of that is not even counting the 3 super's which included the Hosmer Super Auto.

Hope I didn't make anyone's head pop off, but I have been asked about 10 times why I keep opening these and thought I would type this out. Even if I don't factor in the Super's I am still WAY ahead of the game. Of course that is at $12.50 a box, and when most of the codes were good.
Not that you haven't done incredibly well, because you have, and you've been incredibly lucky too, but good luck realizing those numbers for the base cards are inserts.

I wasn't saying you were wrong, my shop could certainly be in the wrong. I was more surprised than anything.

I know, not arguing with you brother.

Just saying Panini has weird ways of doing their distribution, that's all.

I have also learned that if your LCS has a resale shop designation then they can buy and resell retail boxes.

Belvidere does not have a business classification for "hobby" shops, so the new LCS here in town is classified te same as all the other "resale" shops in town.

Kinda strange, but advantageous for him.

Not sure why I would need luck when the listed prices are the bare minimum I would get for them.

I'm just saying it's a different story actually moving base cards and low-end inserts, that's all.

20 cases? Wish I had that kind of money to drop on cardboard
Must have been fun to rip through all those packs...

In the last week I've bought 10 of these. From Chrome, got a Matt Moore auto, Troy Conyers X-Fractor auto, Paul Konerko Gold and a lot of garbage. From Update, pulled a Brandon Belt Next auto, Bill Hall and Max Scherzer Hopes, and a code card that got me a CC Sabathia DDC. Still three base cards short of the Update set but easily have a dozen Trouts, Ackleys and Goldschmidts.
