Greetings all, It's been a while since I last lurked in the grading discussion area. I've looked around this site for some information and I'm striking out. Please forgive my ignorance on the grading topic in general.

1) Seems to me there used to be one thread for BGS group submission and one for PSA. Now I only see one thread for BGS and PSA seems to have all but disappeared from this forum. I realize the current BGS offer is very tempting so maybe it's a timing thing. Has PSA fallen out of favor or is my timing simply off?

2) I have some vintage cards I want to grade but the PSA membership plus grading fees make it very tempting to just go with BGS. The cards will be a mix of PC cards and some that I might flip. Would I be shooting myself in the foot by sending vintage cards to BGS versus PSA?

Thanks!
Tom

Here you go.....

1. The owners of this message board negotiated a deal with Beckett on grading. Hence, you see more BGS threads....and being a prospect centric group, people here tend to favor BGS. PSA grading is still very much in favor across the hobby.

2. If you have any thoughts of selling vintage cards down the line you need to grade them with PSA. The resale value of vintage cards graded by PSA gets a boost from a very strong set registry following. Plus, BGS is known to grade hand cut cards from sheets which is viewed as a no-no and as a result many PSA loyalists will shy away from BGS/BVG graded cards.

I hope that helps.

this forum is mostly modern stuff and bgs if best for that.
