Very Nice Jackie Robinson Find

found this goin through my dads old stamp collection set, already contacted the jackie robinson collector

Its an original copy of the jackie robinson black heritage stamp, part of a set my dad has and it is postmarked August 2, 1982 from Cooperstown NY, that was the first day the stamp was in US circulation...on the left is a 22 kt gold replica of the stamp with a plastic cover over it

just thought i would share, it was a pretty cool thing to find in an old dusty box lol

It's a neat item, but unfortunately it's not that rare or valuable. I used to collect stamps, and one of my favorite pieces was an FDC (first day cover) of the baseball stamp from 1939. I think it only cost $30 at a stamp show, and it's still worth about the same. Just search Jackie Robinson FDC on Ebay and you'll see different examples of the Jackie Robinson with the first day issue.
