I'm starting to think the Padres should've gone with Verlander.

Bush is officially the worst overall #1 pick of alltime.
What a ******.
Here's his mugshot from 2004, when he was arrested for biting a bouncer at a club, the same month he was drafted #1.

I could have predicted this a year before he was drafted. If anyone has the old Baseball America from when he was named "high school player of the year", you will see he is holding the award or the magazine (don't remember now) with his middle index finger only.

Also, yea there goes my #1 pick autograph project. Wonder if I can send a ball to San Quintin.

And I'm starting to think the Chargers should've taken Manning instead of Leaf, but clearly the jury's still out on that one.

Wow - is that really how people get arrested? They carried him like he was a tote bag or somethin.

He must have been high out of his mind or really really drunk.

Scary that there were so many people high on him (no pun intended) I fortunately was not sold on him. I thought the Pads should have taken Verlander or even Weaver.. Weaver was Strasburg Light that year

On July 8, 2009, Matt Bush entered a not guilty plea to charges of drunken driving, resisting arrest and two counts of vandalism. The charges stem from an incident on June 28, 2009 when it was reported he was seen throwing objects at passing cars while standing outside his vehicle on Camino de la Reina near the San Diego Union-Tribune building in Mission Valley. Police said he had hit at least one car with his belt buckle. It was also alleged that after returning to his vehicle, he backed into that same car, causing damage. He was arrested in a parking structure of nearby Fashion Valley Mall, taken to jail and booked on assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, driving on a suspended license, vandalism and driving under the influence. At his arraignment his attorney showed proof that he had entered a residential rehabilitation program for alcohol abuse [9]

I've figured out the problem. He can still pitch, he just needs to be really drunk.

Probably the wrong board to be pondering the mysteries of life, but why is Bush this way?

Yeah, he is a former No. 1 overall draft choice and is a BUST, but it isn't like he isn't such a target that people are making him do all sorts of stupid things.

There maybe other professional ballplayers who screw off and/or have done things no one is ever going to be proud of, but this guy keeps doing it over and over.
