About two months ago, I almost was run over by his driver right after a game. Being waved across the player's parking lot by security, the guard yelled "whoa whoa whoa" as a car shoots through to leave. Missed my left foot by about 6 inches.

Wouldn't have minded being a minority owner in the club.

unfortunately somewhat limited so it's going to be expensive as ****!

would have been nice to have maybe 2-3K so more fans could have an opportunity to get his auto, but that would have been hard on Vin to sign, IMHO.

Cooperstown is coming to baseball cards, and it's not just baseball players that Panini America will be including.

When Panini's 2012 Cooperstown set arrives in late August, it will include the Nolan Ryans and Ty Cobbs that one would expect -- but it also will include other honorees of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

[+] Enlarge
Courtesy of Panina America Sportswriter Murray Chass will be appearing in the Panini's Cooperstown set.

It will include sportswriters, broadcasters, managers, umpires, executives and more as part of a 200-card checklist and a product that will include an autograph in every 24-pack box.

The standard cards will include the likes of Alexander Cartwright, Al Spalding, Connie Mack and Charles Comiskey alongside the Mel Otts and the Reggie Jacksons, but it's in the Cooperstown Signatures set where the uniqueness of the product emerges.

Among those on the preliminary autograph checklist? Dodgers legend Vin Scully, Peter Gammons, sportswriter Murray Chass and many other honorees via the Hall's J.G. Taylor Spink or Ford C Frick Awards. Autographs already received back by Panini and teased online include Astros broadcaster Milo Hamilton, Royals broadcaster Denny Matthews, New York broadcaster Bob Wolff (honored by both the baseball and basketball Halls) and Padres broadcaster Jerry Coleman.
Others Panini is aiming to include are Joe Garagiola, Marty Brennaman, Bob Uecker and Jon Miller to name a few.

What makes these unique? Many of them have never signed an autograph for a card company before, meaning there just might be more interest for their sigs as they don't have hundreds, if not thousands, of other choices for fans to sink their collecting cash into.

That's an awesome looking card. I've looked for Scully's before. When is that product being released (or is it already)? Any other noteworthy names in the product??

Edit: Missed the post above. Thanks . . . . and thanks!

Panini America‘s next baseball-focused brand, Cooperstown, will showcase not only the greatest in the game but also the best around them.
And that’s not all as Cooperstown also will showcase Hall of Famers who served in the military via a 10-card insert set called With Honors, a lineup that will include the likes of Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Whitey Ford and more when it arrives in late August.

Each of the 10 cards will tell the player’s story away from the field, noting which wars the player served in as well as more about his story.
The lineup includes military photography and will also include Bobby Doerr, Bob Feller, Charlie Gehringer, Joe DiMaggio, Hank Greenberg, Stan Musial and Johnny Mize in addition to those previously mentioned.
In other news about the product, a preliminary checklist shows 30 cut signature subjects will be in Cooperstown’s Famed Cuts set with as many as 61 copies of some cards made and other players being 1/1s. Some of the notables there will include Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Lee MacPhail, Carl Hubbell, Don Drysdale and Lefty Gomez.
The preliminary checklist for the Famous Moments Signatures insert, which will showcase autographs of players with artifacts tied to achievements at the Hall, will include Don Larsen, Carl Yastrzemski, Maury Wills, Denny McLain, Brooks Robinson, Shawn Green, Don Mattingly, Tom Seaver, Jeff Kent and Nate Colbert, who, for example, hit five home runs in a doubleheader on Aug. 1, 1972.
The 100-card Cooperstown Signatures set will be largely on-card sigs, according to the preliminary checklist, save for a handful of Hall of Famers who are no longer alive (Gary Carter, Dick Williams, George Kell, Robin Roberts, Sparky Anderson and Bob Feller who are signed on stickers). Most living Hall of Famers are signing for the set with notables in this one tentatively include Yogi Berra, Johnny Bench, Ford, Tony Gwynn, Reggie Jackson, Ernie Banks, Willie McCovey, Frank Robinson, Yaz, Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan Tom Seaver and Rickey Henderson. Some players appear on more than one autograph card to represent additional teams.

Cooperstown is a word that defines one thing when it comes to baseball — history.
The home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in rural New York is a treasure trove of baseball lore — and now Panini America is aiming to make “Cooperstown” synonymous with one more thing.
Baseball cards.
The company revealed on Monday its next baseball product, 2012 Panini Cooperstown, a 200-card release that will arrive in late July with some of the greatest names in the game — and more. (For a checklist of recent releases or an OPG click here.)
In February, the company announced its multiyear deal with the Hall and that prompted the start of the product that will include 24 packs and one autographed card per box. The biggest find, though, might be a redemption card good for a trip to the Hall itself.
In addition, each box will include two commemorative Class Patch cards, three Bronze History cards, three Crystal Collection cards, two Voices of Summer, two Induction and two Credentials insert cards. The set will focus on those enshrined in the museum as well as cards showcasing some of the artifacts in the collection.
We’ll have more on this one as it becomes available.

FINAL AUTOGRAPH CHECKLIST:

[TABLE="width: 662"]
[TR]
[TD="colspan: 2"]Cooperstown Signatures - 1 Per Box
These cards gracefully cut off the tops of guys hat logos and the blue pen makes the signatures pop on these cards. It looks like there are some photo variations too along with different serial numbers. Gary Carter for example is one player I saw with 2 different photos in the Panini Blog below. More information will be provided upon release.
The cards below are confirmed via promotional photos by Panini, but may not be released. More cards TBD Also, the serial numbers might be a parallel version or the base version. We'll find out once the set goes live.

I can't believe I'm saying this about a Panini product, but some of those look SHARP.

I won't be busting any but I will definitely be picking up a few singles.

Scully auto would look nice next to Kalas and Garagiola. I think Spink award winners would also be a sought-after set, along with other notable writers. I'd love to have a Roger Angell or Ken Burns auto, myself.

Just got a little sick. Tim McCarver won this year's Frick award? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
