I was reading the classified section and saw someone was selling some baseball cards. We all know these are usually not worth the time but I went ahead and called the guy. He put these cards into a book report back in 1961 and they have been stored away in his mothers house ever since. Luckily the cards are held in place by corner tabs and not glued down :-)

In total there are 120 cards. 1960 Topps and 1961 Post. A few of the cards have wax stains and a couple have small creases in them. Sharp corners on pretty much all of them. All of the cards have the original sheen and are not stained other than the red Sox team card looks a little off color.

I know the vintage guys take the word STEAL very seriously but I think this just might be a steal as the Yaz Rookie should grade well even though it's a little off center. I paid $120 for 120 cards :-)

Just scanning some of he highlights.

off to PSA i take it?

Yes, I'm thinking of getting a couple graded. The Mantle and the Yaz for sure. The Mantle is cut a little rough across the top so I don't know how much that will affect the grade.

Very nice haul! FYI, the Yankees and Sawx team cards are from the '57 set and should also give you a significant ROI.

REALLY? Wow... I thought they were all the same year. The Yankees card has a small crease in the card that is shaped like a rainbow and surrounds the team name :-(

I took all of the cards out of the corner tabs and those were the only two cards from '57

There were 44 Post cereal cards. A few good names. Billy Martin, Jim Bunning, Gil Hodges, Whitey Ford, Hoyt Wilhelm and Lew Burdette.

whats the yaz book at?

I think it's in the Beckett Annual at $250 but someone else said $200 below in this thread. I see two PSA 6 that recently ended at $94 and $98. There is a PSA 7 that is currently listed and bid up to $167. I am not an expert on vintage grading but I think mine might get a 7 too. It definately looks better than the 6's that I looked at.

id send that in for slabbing for SURE!

the front looks CLEAN, and when i say CLEAN, i mean it doesnt seem to have the "traditional" print marks, like mine:

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to send in a few of the cards when I get back from vacation in a couple of weeks.

wow nice! are those corners as sharp as they look?

Yes, most of the cards are as if they just came out of the pack. I have only seen a couple dinged corners. Most of the cards are really clean and white without staining from age and handling. Obviously some of the cards are cut off center and many have printing flaws like print dots and such. The '57 Yankees team card does have a crease in it :-(
