Retail is just a way to get base sets into the hands of kids.

Its gone downhill...in 05 I pulled a ton of..at the time...good stuff from retail blasters of BDP

Exactly, they had to compete with DLP. MLBPA issued a statement that they wanted cards to return youth friendly and place more product in retail markets, thus flooded blasters/retail packs.

I used to bust so much retail, until I realized the money I spent on junk could have probably funded case upon case of hobby with so much more to show for it.
It sucks not having a local hobby shop - thus why I stick to my Recollection autos.

I just don't think 09 draft is that good of a product. The base set is very weak and while some of the autos are decent, you have little chance of pulling one when you're breaking retail. The auto CL will probably look better with time, as these guys are either all or mostly first round picks, but right now I just don't think it's a great product to bust.

But those purples do look puuuurty, especially in person.

Still wish they would switch them with the orange refractors. Make Gold hardest, then Blue, then Red, then purple, then make orange retail-only, and highest numbering. Just MHO.
