There's the smart thing to do. Don't support the trimmers by buying from them.

sometimes you have to side with reason and pass on temptation( odd that this is being said about a baseball card ).
it's not so much just the serial number itself, but the autograph. i've stored the image in my collection with a screen shot of the auction and a note that it was in shoeless-joe's hands. oh well.

Even if the card is 100% legit, why give the guy any business? Op is correct, just move on and find a different copy of the card down the road.
