Just curious as to why he hasn't seen a single AB yet. I understand he's a backup, but it's been several days now and he hasn't even come in to pinch hit.

Anyone have any insight?

It's Bochy!!! He prefers to play his grizzled vets over unproven rookies. Even when they suck bawls. Hopefully the snail, i mean Bengie will be resting in the San Diego series and he will get some playing time.

The Giants didn't want to call him up this year AT ALL. They were forced to when Molina got hurt. Bochy likes Whitesides defense and he calls a great game. The move to bring Posey up really P.O.'ed Molina, who now is not considering resigning with the Giants and his heart my not be in it for the rest of the season. Posey isn't ready and to use him in a Wild Card or Division race would be a very bad idea. That said he needs to be up on the bench in case Molina gets hurt again.

Even if he does not get into the game, the comfort level of learning what it's like to travel an MLB schedule and the familiarity he gains will prove invaluable to him next season when he is really needed. I think that is an underrated tool for young players to acclimate them slowly to the lifestyle as opposed to dropping them in to sink or swim. Of course, since the board is comprised of prospectors we'd like to see him play his first game the second day he's called up and go 4-4 so we can sell all his stuff at 200% ROI but the GMs they are grooming these guys to be ball players for the next 10-15 years.
