From ESPN:
"Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run homer off Weaver in the third. Weaver yelled at Ordonez as he rounded the bases, apparently thinking he had been posing as he watched the shot, which barely stayed fair."

Weaver's fault. You could tell that Ordonez was looking the ball and tilting hoping it was fair. Magglio doesn't do that crap. Weaver is a loser.

LOL well that doesn't make sense.

I actually love this. Weaver made a fool out of himself, the Tigers won, Indians/Sox lost, and Weaver is going to get himself a suspension.

What could be better? Jokes on the Angels.

How is the joke on the Angels? You're obviously a homer (an extreme one, at that), and you'd do well for yourself should you learn a little bit about the game.

This is too funny. Wonder how many more "stay classy" will be used here. You know Aybar was going to bunt and I see nothing wrong with it(yes I'm an Angels fan). But don't tell me Verlander didn't throw that away to get the "error" to keep his no-hit going at that point.

I don't think it was an "error". The throw easily beat Aybar to first. I'm quite sure that Verlander would have preferred to make a good throw to get him out. Verlander did not have a good handle on the ball - mostly due to his attempt to quickly field the ball to make a play on the speedy Aybar.

I really don't have a problem with Aybar bunting. jmo, I think that whole no bunting late in a no-hitter unwritten rule is ridiculous. Especially if the outcome of the game was in question. After Verlander's long wait between the 7th and 8th inning, I would have laid a bunt down as well.

I can't believe there is actually an argument here if its bush league to bunt or not. The Angels are two games out of first place and hadn't gotten anything off Verlander all game. So if he gets into the fifth inning with a no hitter everyone is expected to let him try and get it? The angels are just expected to give up? Naw thats not baseball, "small ball" is actually a big part of the angels game, and even though Aybar isn't a very good bunter the angels do have a tremendous amount of speed and try to force the issues on the bases, always have. Both teams are in a pennant race, and if you don't think that the team is more important than a no-hitter I think you are a bit confused. After all, the Angels scored two runs in the inning and actually threatened at more, also this got Verlander out of the game and brought in a new pitcher for the ninth (albeit an allstar closer, but when someone is as dominant as Verlander you'd love to see anyone else out there)

Also don't mind Weaver getting ejected, he has great control and to be honest with you, he wasn't that close to hitting Avila and I don't think he even wanted to. I think he just wanted to get ejected. Call that bush league, whatever but Guillen certainly showed him up.

This game was a battle and incredibly enjoying I don't think there has to be this much debate.

I don't think Aybar bunts if the prior stuff didn't happen. That said, I don't know that it was bush league considering they were only down 3. If they were down 10 with an inning to go, then it's kinda questionable. People seem to complain about baseball's unwritten rules, but every sport has them. It's sportsmanship.
