Back in 2003 I bought a box of 03/04 UD Glass Basketball. I pulled a Kobe SP auto and a Lebron auto RC, easily one of the best boxes I busted. That was a great year for me as I pulled 8 more Lebron RC's from various products in addition to a bunch of Wade, Anthony, and other RC's that I sold for some big money. Easily my most profitable year!

My most memorable is nothing spectacular. It was about 1994 and my local Big Lots had a bunch of 1993 Triple Play boxes for $10.00 each. I really like the Gallery of Stars inserts and I probably busted about 10 boxes of that stuff. I ended up with a bunch of base sets and all the inserts sets. It wasn't anything expensive either. Just really fun breaking.

Back in 1997/1998 I was starting to fully collect football cards after spending time mainly concentrating on baseball cards as a kid. After looking through my Beckett and picking out the product I wanted to buy a box of, I settled on 1997 Pinnacle Inscriptions Football. After the success of the 1996 set with on card signatures on plastic cards, I was stoked to find a box for $75. That was the most expensive box I had ever bought, but boy did it pay off. Autographs fell 1 per box (24 packs), but in my box, I pulled an amazing ~18 autographs, including Brett Favre, Jerry Rice, (3) Jim Kellys, Mark Brunell, and a host of other smaller names (mostly quarterbacks). Needless to say this is the best box I've ever broken and I don't think I'll ever top it.

Most memorable one was my first ever box break. Didn't know much about cards but was watching some vids on youtube and thought it'd be cool to try one of these things out. Picked up a blaster of 07 Topps Updates and Highlights on ebay for .99 cents + $14.99 Shipping. So it got here, I was excited and was opening the packs with high hopes of a jersey card (I thought jersey cards were cooler than Autos back then) but nothing. Was pretty bummed out. So I was looking at what I got again and noticed a card with silver glitter on it. It was a Vladimir Guerrero Home Run Contest All Star card. Flipped it over and saw a 1/1. Was hooked on cards ever since that break.

When I got back into collecting cards back in 2004 the first box that I bought was a 2004 BCDP retail box at Wallyworld. My two big hits were both Gold Ref autos of Neil Walker and Thomas Diamond. Pretty much my only successful box.

If I can still get in:

First, a little background. FCB member Landon is a distant family member (far cousin), but is more like a little brother to me. One day in late December 2006 we were browsing the card section at Wal-Mart. We had both had good luck with 2005 Topps Update baseball, so we each decided to pick up a blaster of 2006 Topps Update.

One blaster caught our attention, but for the wrong reason - the shrink wrap appeared to be tampered with. I was against buying it, but my mother (for some reason) told me to get it.

Get home, and three packs in I let out a scream.

2006 Topps Update HRH Barry Bonds on-card autograph /5

The next pack contained a Rookie Debut autograph of a prospect at the time (Livingston), but at that point I could care less.

That Bonds is sweet! Makes me miss my collection, just had to sell it to make ends meet. Life is tough sometimes.

Gonna go ahead and do the drawing. This might be one of my favorite threads on FCB this year. Lots of good stories.

I had planned on doing a contest on Friday's from now on since this thread went so well ,but a few people complained I was spamming up the boards. My banner has been taken down and I've been asked not to promote my site anymore. Not sure what to think ,but what can you do.

Are we allowed to ask who "asked" you to not promote it?
