Do you think this person really wants this card? LOL!
Looks like a bot glitch. Notice how the bids are all about 3 seconds apart?

That was my first thought. Maybe a run-away sniping program.

It's weird though that the "craziness" happened with 5 and a half days left in the auction. Doesn't make sense.
My vote: somebody was drinkin' and ebay'in.

Maybe he placed the snipe, walked away, and had to cancel it after a minute or so because he got hundreds of bid alert emails. The malfunction could have happened instantly after placing the snipe.

It's a bot glitch, most likely from a faulty sniping program that malfunctioned.
The bids are mostly 3 seconds apart. It's physically impossible to re-enter new bids, go through the confirmation screen, hit enter and wait for each page to reload, all within 3 seconds.

I've seen people do that and up their bids by a penny. I think they do it to try to get people to outbid them, but this seems excessive and not worth the time if it was done manually.

people do this all the time to scare off competing bidders whether it's to show they are "serious" or to infer shilling

A member here a few years ago admitted to bidding up a penny at a time to create the idea that the listing was being shilled to scare off any other bidders

Aaaand it didn't work. Out-bid at the end by 2 other people. LOL
The 20-some minutes of their life span spent doing "penny-bumps"...they'll never get it back.

Some people get themselves in so much trouble drinking, drunk driving, drunk texting, lap dances etc. There's been more than one occasion where I had a rough night and woke up the next day and saw I bid on some big items or all the cards in my watch list have new bids on them....... My bid
