Well this sucks for Red Wings fans

Saw on the ESPN Bottom line that Franzen is replacing Holmstrom on team Sweden. I am not thrilled that Franzen has only been back a couple games and should not be playing in a tournament like this. I think more rest and training to get back into game shape. On the other hand, it could be good to get used to the speed of the game once again. Holmstrom having to miss makes me think he is more banged up than is being told. I kind of wish both would just not play.

Im sure Franzen was very happy to be going to Vancouver. To a lot of these European Hockey players, playing in the Olympics is just as good, if not better than the Stanley Cup.

Besides, like u mentioned, it might help get him into better game shape. Olympic Hockey isn't nearly as rough as NHL games.

Exactly. Franzen playing in the Olympics is actually a good thing if you are a Wings fan. IMO.
