What are some good books on game used memorabilia??

I am looking to gain knowledge in the game used world and was looking to pick up some books to learn a little and build a mini library. I was wondering what are some good books on bats, balls, autos etc.

I have been collecting old Auction books from all of the main auction houses like Christie's etc. There a boxed set I picked up for the Barry Halper collection that has tons of pictures and prices that the stuff sold for. Kind of cool seeing what people have paid for some of the cooler Old School stuff since it is who I collect. Not sure what you could by as a resource for newer players though. Just do a search on Ebay for Sports Auction books etc and look for the ones that are specifically for sports.

I was looking more for books that tell you what to look for in certain bats that can tell you if they are authentic...stuff like that.

Vintage or Modern??

Old Auction Catalogs are good, I have a couple hundred spanning 20+ years, and have post-it notes on front listing key items inside.

(Vintage) Also reading this site will be better than any book known, lots of experts in all vint age memorabilia will answer your questions.

fkw- vintage is what I am looking for and I am a member on that site as well and have been lurking and made a few posts but I dont want to bother everyone with one question after another so I figured if I could buy a book and read up a little I'd be able to better understand that part of the hobby.

Its a new field for me that I am trying to get into so the more knowledge that I can obtain, the better.

Your doing a good thing looking for reading material on game used. I wish more would spend a few $$ and buy books (especially vintage card collectors).
I just dont know of any good books on Memorabilia out there, But I also am not into Game Used as much as many of the others on net54. Maybe ask them if there are any good books??

Ask questions, they all like to answer questions. Plus other lurkers may learn something too, like me, I dont post on the memorabilia side often, but look at it every few days.

This book was wrote by one the biggest bat experts out there. I do believe it covers from vintage to more modern bats.

Halper had a fake Shoeless Joe jersey, fake Cobb diary and others, i would stay away from trying to learn anything from Halper. The website fkw mentioned is a great start.
