I know that most people make there $$ investing in quarterbacks, but how have you done with Running Backs? Is the window that much smaller? I went heavy one time and got me teeth kicked in (doug martin), and am sitting on a ton of nice graded cards of his. I was looking at buying a stack of contenders autos of one of this years running backs, but am gun shy to be truthful. Anyone have good reasoning to NOT be gunshy? Thanks all

I did Alex Green, that didn't work out so we'll. Still hoping he gets a chance.

Some of LeSean McCoys low-numbered stuff seems awfully cheap so I took a shot on some cards serially numbered to /50, /99, and /100. He should continue to thrive in Chip Kelly's offense, but it's yet to be seen if hobby love will follow. The Eagles should get plenty of national exposure next year so maybe that will help.

In my experience, it is just like baseball, if you do it right you can make a bunch of money. Case in point, Doug Martin. I made a pretty substantial amount (`$400) after his really big game against, I think it was Oakland? you just have to have the right stuff, in my experience products like Finest, Prime & TTT do not see anywhere near the type of return that products like Contenders, Chrome & NT (although with Contenders and NT you are going to have to speculate).

Also, for what it's worth, I still think Martin is a very solid investment. He is going to have the whole 'come back' thing going so he will have a lot of press on ESPN after his first big game back.

Natrone Means, Robert Edwards, Ki-Jana Carter, William Green, James Jackson, Lee Suggs. Not very good.

Matt - LMK if you're looking to unload the Doug Martin's and I'll get you in contact with a guy I know who is a big collector of his.

As some have stars w FB it is a week by week thing to gain or lose % quickly. So you can do well but be ready to list even during a game. I had 20 or so Bobby Rainey Contender Autos and luckily he had a big game that let me make some and get out, as I had been listing at a loss (luckily w/o action) before his breakout. My suggestion if your going to try it is find the low tier guys waiting for a shot vs someone who is a starter/large feature already

In football, EVERY body gets hot once, and you have to sell him then. Don't wait for the next bump, ALOT of times, it never comes.

Ask guys who got killed investing in Shawn Alexander, Steve Ridley and guys like that and held 'em, 'cuz they drop off SO far.

Personally, I think Lacy and Bell are this years' best chances to hold long-term, but even that is more because of their teams and their probable success in 2014...

As for values, I'd go with "Shady" McCoy, his style avoids the usual wear and tear RBs take, and Andre Ellington in Arizona...

In 1998 I saw that one guy on the Falcons have a bunch of 100-yard games but his 1996 SP was still sitting at a buck. So I bought I think 4 of them (all I could find pre-ebay). The Falcons made the Super Bowl, the guy had a touchdown dance schtick, I was able to trade those SPs back to the same dealer I bought them from for a brand-new super-hot Mo Vaughn Black Diamond bat card, which I still have.

I can't tell if I won or lost on that whole escapade.

Always awful. You cannot invest in a RB because their prices always decline. It does not matter who the player is.
Eddie Lacy is a terrible buy right now IMO.
Trent Richardson's stuff is about to free fall.
Jamaal Charles is an MVP candidate and his stuff can be had for peanuts
Adrian Peterson has held steady over the past year
Demarco Murray top back and holds little value
Doug Martin saw his cards decline by over 50% in the past year

I could go on and on but buying running backs never works. I still buy them though ha
