This is more of a long-term goal than just a goal for 2013.

Starting with baseball and eventually moving on to basketball, football, and hockey, I'm going to attempt to collect one refractor per set/per year from the first year of introduction until 1999.

I've compiled a checklist for baseball with the generous help of George_Calfas and it looks like I have 184 refractors for that sport alone.

It'll be a project to complete with my kids, so I'm definitely looking forward to it.

1. Find more Justin Upton Bowman Chrome Autograph BGS 9.5's or better
2. Buy as many Byron Buxton Bowman Chromes from 2013 Bowman as possible
3. Build up my prospecting arsenal as this was a down year for everything
4. Possibly get back into football and basketball cards

1. Obtain a quality 1/1 because its the only thing really lacking in my collection
2. Continue to find steals and bargains on rare cards (need help from the card gods every now and then!)
3. Add 100 cards to my PC (getting tougher because most of the stuff I need now is rare or low numbered)

I might be able to help you with this, depending on the player, as I have a ton of base/common refractors from 1993-1999. LMK.

This may sound lame, but I have yet to pull a refractor autograph from any Bowman products. I always always always get a base autograph. I don't open that many but over the past maybe 5 years and maybe 12 boxes I have yet to hit one ref auto. Hopefully my luck changes soon!

Probably going to go lighter this year and focus in my '34 Goudey and '49 Bowman sets.

Get my hands on a Gallardo 1/1 and dump a bunch of surplus Brewers and non-Brewers prospects. Also, get ahold of a Black Ref version of the card in my sig graded or not. Had one once but sold off a few years ago, and now I want it back.

Richard Hidalgo (realistically, this may change to only cards showing Hidalgo in an Astros jersey, to tie in to my overall Astros collection)

Reach 35 different autographed cards - currently sitting at around 28-30 (only has 58 total autos)
Reach 250 different inserts/parallels - currently sitting at around 195
Reach 8 different 1/1 - currently sitting at 5
Reach 20 different game used cards - currently sitting at 6
Reach 300 different base cards - currently sitting at 233/328
Acquire a game used bat, jersey or cleats (preferably autographed) - currently have game used, autoed batting gloves

Sets

Complete 2008 Topps
Complete 1985 Topps

Other Collections

Pick up one autographed card of as many players on this list as possible (to be added to at a later date): Dirk Nowitzki, Larry Bird, Jason Kidd, Jeff Bagwell, Nolan Ryan, LaDainian Tomlinson, Pete Maravich, Steve McNair, Mike Piazza, Chipper Jones, Eddie George, Michael Finley, Hakeem Olajuwon, Randall Cunningham, Craig Biggio, Warren Moon (12/21/2012), Ricky Williams, Vince Young, Chris Johnson, Donovan McNabb, Chris Mullin, Mark Price, Scottie Pippen, Juan Gonzalez, Ivan Rodriguez, Earl Campbell, Kevin Love, Allen Iverson, David Robinson, John Stockton, Robin Yount, Toni Kukoc, Bruce Mathews, Keith Bulluck

Sort all of my Houston Astros base by player, weeding out all the doubles and filling in as many holes as I can, per player, as the year goes on (such a massive undertaking, just getting all cards sorted, document and in protective pages, without adding ANY new cards would be considered a major accomplishment)

One rookie card of as many players on this list (to be added to at a later date; as a general rule, player must be in hall of fame or in serious consideration for hall of game): Cal Ripken Jr, Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr., Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Eric Campbell, Eddie Murray, Ozzie Smith, Tony Gwynn, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Wade Boggs, Ryne Sandberg, Jim Rice, Dan Marino, John Elway, Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Chipper Jones, Mark McGwire, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Dennis Rodman, John Stockton, Paul Molitor, Dennis Eckersley, Robin Yount, Mike Piazza, Mariano Rivera

A lot of my list looks exactly like it did this year, but I added very little to the overall goal of my list, so little has changed for next year, except the massive addition of autographs and RC's wanted.

1) Build the 2013 Topps and Topps Update sets.
2) Sell some aspects of my collection and consolidate it into more high value cards I enjoy aesthetically.

Unfortunately my start to 2013 will be delayed. Once I land a good job again and get back on my feet, I think I need to set a monthly budget on card spending. Put some money aside for AIC case breaks and keep building my Brewers PC. Doesn't look like it will be happening anytime soon though.

1) Add 50 Moustakas to the PC. It's a small number, because I want to concentrate on quality, not quantity.

2) Add 50 patches to the PC. Sake reason for the low number.

3) Refrain from going broke.
