I feel dumber after reading this thread up to this point...does anyone have anything relevant to say?

As for the topic at hand, it seems normal to see a player put up bigger numbers in his first full season and then see his BA drop off a bit as pitchers figure him out. Once he adjusts, he'll be back over .300, probably next season. He seems like the kind of guy who you can almost expect 200 hits from, and simple math tells us that if that's true and he doesn't get hurt, there's no reason why he shouldn't be close to 3,000 hits for his career. I think 20 homers is more realistic than 30, but he's still just a kid and has some filling out left to do, so don't be surprised to see his homerun total grow over the coming seasons. I'm glad the Cubs have him locked in for awhile, he's the kind of player who you can build a winning team around. I see him settling in as a .300, 18 HR, 30 SB kind of player, and with that kind of offense from a middle infielder, you're talking about a very special player who will probably be a perennial all star.

Get back to me when the cubs win the world series.

Then I guess all those players that played for the Red sox for 84 years should have played elsewhere?

I just think your logic is flawed. If this was the case there would be 8 teams in the league with every good player on said teams. Sounds good, right?

yeah, if castro can get his head straight he can go places, if he keeps raping the ladies, then he will only go to jail
he needs to get his head straight, unlike fukudome, who just totally gave up... shining stars fall all the time
it is up to castro

Raping ladies? That's not something you just throw in there and Fukudome was never really a shining star. Bad comparisons

I don't know much about it, so I'll ask without looking it up. Whatever did come of his sexual assault case? Wasn't that in ST this year?

His lack of concentration in the field would absolutely kill me if I were a Cub fan. He has to be the closest thing to Manny's thought process in a long time.

Positives: Improved fielding and overall concentration this year. Showed additional power. At times, has shown a bit more patience, but is inconsistent with his batting eye. Recovered his batting stroke after a prolonged slump to start the second half, which shows he didn't "check out" when adversity hit.

Negatives: Struggles swinging at bad pitches, particularly in RBI situations. Still has lots of work to do learning how to work a count. Average dropped some this year. Still hasn't learned how to steal bases.

Overall: Solid season that has shown much needed improvement in maturity and defense, with a flash of power. Considering how many players struggle with a sophomore slump, Castro's year indicates he's going to be one of the better shortstops in the game over the next decade. With further development he could be top 3 in his position for a lot of years.

The Red Sox were relevant for many years. The Cubs on the other hand, are the laughing stock of MLB.

There was a statement about winning world series, Red Sox went a hell of a long time with out one as well. Does that mean playing for the organization is a bad thing? Castro doesn't think so, since he will be in Chicago for the next 9 years...

The original quote that was taken so seriously never mentioned any WS titles. Take the emotion out of it, the Cubs are a dumpster fire.

I was referring to E's quote of "Get back to me when the cubs win the world series."

Yeah, i hear you on the Cubs, at the same time we have things to be excited about.

1. A front office that has a clue, and has a plan

2. Young future superstars in Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro

3. A farm system that includes 6-7 Top 100 prospects, headlined by Javier Baez and Jorge Soler

4. $$$, The Cubs will have HUGE money to spend in 2 years when they are ready to make a splash

Is all rosey? Nope. Does it suck they are totally rebuilding, Yep. Do I have faith that the front office can turn it around? Yep.

It was your point that the Cubs are a "dumpster fire". My point is, if that's so, why poor gas on it by getting rid of their young talent.

I think he wants you to not have poverty-stricken gas but rather the the kind that flows from a can.
