A couple of ideas:

-- a pull of the month thread/poll/contest;

-- a pickup of the month thread/poll/contest, split between HOF, Prospect and Current players (to allow for different wallet sizes);

-- a Baseball boards challenge: let's see if we can have a FCB token (sign, cap, message on the giant screen) make it to ALL MLB ballparks, thanks to all board members here!!

Do a random.org contest sort of like secret santa. Each member that signs up sends a whatever value card we decide on(through a poll or w/e) to you. The post number we are in the signup thread is what number we are in the contest. Once you get all of the contest cards in, random them off to everyone that signed up/sent a card.

Every FCB member with 100 or more posts gets 100 "FCB Points". We can trade, give away or sell these points with/to other members and earn points through FCB contests and such which FCB gets by the way of accepting them as payments or as discounts for the online store. This will make "thanking" another member a really cool thing, because the thanks will have value. Say you really like a post by a member, you give them a couple FCB Points, and if many others do as well, it adds up and they can use those points to give away themselves, sell or trade or use as discounts on FCB store products.

This would rock IMO.

Maybe make 200 points equal to 10% off (or simply a predetermined cash value) at the FCB online store. Then FCB takes that 200 points received and redistributes it with contests and the like. It would be like an FCB currency. Every time a member reaches 100 posts there is 100 more FCB Points into the system.

I like this point system idea....Instead of giving away $50 paypal on these BIN contests, there should be more BIN contest and additional contests run by the boards....

You should give out store credit only there should be more frequently contests for lower amounts - like $20 gift certificates etc.

Contests should be on a daily or bi-daily basis for $20....They should end within 48 hours and be for $10 - $25, all store gift certificates...good way to keep contests frequest and to promote the store

How about everyone votes on "most informative post of the week"...this means the post that helps all the members here to get a deal that all can share in and save $$$$. That in turn would be some giveaways by members who participate and they get sent to gilmo. He then packages the stuff up (with maybe a pack or single from the store) and then goes out to that member at the end of the month.

Are you looking to simply add some 'fun' to the boards, or do you mean 'hobby lull' as in you need more new member activity? Because if your looking to simply add a bit of light hearted fun, perhaps I have an idea....

You could have people make and submit 30 second youtube commercials for FCB, let them have fun with it and then let the members vote for the best. The winning video could be featured on the home page, and perhaps some sort of prize given to them like a $100 dollar gift certificate to the box shop.

Given the site motto it would probably be best to do something to celebrate collectors.

Perhaps a contest to determine the members with the best 5 collector web sites and/or 5 best collections.

A card set beyond what we do for the national isn't really realistic.


Blanket, mass discounts at the wax shop aren't really possible either because the margins are already so low.

And a reputation system is kinda lame.
