They've fallen below Hockey, who has its devotees and great Mods. And more breaks would definitely help. I'm looking at some early Football releases...

And the more I think about it, the more I like the "group buy" of a HUGE, icon-type card.

I think that could be a great idea, but could also go very poorly if managed badly.

Oh, no question, but I think we have enough respectable, upright citizens and great Mods in place that with caution, it could be done. Who knows? maybe nobody would want the job...

If the stake to get in is relatively low, say $25, that would help reduce the worry too. It might reduce the amount but it would be worth it if it reduced the risk too. Plus, if you can make a "splash" with it, like at the National (too late for '11?) or FanFest, it would only help grow the site.

And now a serious suggestion - What about adding an arcade? PhpBB offers a free arcade to administrators. If we had a forum set up to go along with it (perhaps a sub-forum in General Chat) for people to post friendly competitions, it might generate something exciting and new for most people across the board rather than just boosting the baseballers, footballers, or the two basketball guys as an individual group.

They're just simple games, but do have high score features, and I believe a trophy gets added in your user profile if you hold the high score in a game. I think it could be fun.

I'm a member of another board (unrelated to baseball) and we all got bored and infiltrated a random emo band's message board. It was very funny but as the internet goes, they discovered our original launching point and re-attacked.

Took the mods a few weeks to clean that up
