Has to be this. Was chasing it for years collecting him. Thank goodness I didn't get it anywhere near it's peak

i have one of those too

and still think they have potential

You still think it has potential? I hope so. I was looking to dump all my Frenchy stuff when he got traded to the New Yuck Mets. I have a chrome, chrome BGS 9.5, the USA auto, Prospect Premires and Topps Moments auto. Wanted them to all go away and I couldnt even give them away. So I will just wait and see if he can jump start his career again.

Ouch... Such a good prospect that just ruined his whole career. He's still pitching though right?

He hasn't quite "ruined his whole career" just yet. He's got one chance left. He'll pitch next season.

Take your pick. Percentage-wise a 95% drop in a cornerstone of my collection is common. Back in the early-mid 90s, when plain old inserts were king, and I was collecting Frank Thomas very heavily, any 1-per-box Thomas card was $20, and I was a willing addict. Looking at Thomas listings on ebay, I can start to feel ill, looking at all those 99-cent unsold listings. Of course, I've had the pleasure of owning those cards for 15 years or so, and that extra money spent has taught me the value of patience, but man, it sure is galling.

Haven't had the pleasure of paying hundreds for a single card that dropped a ton, though. I've had quite a few that I held too long, but they were ones I bought low and just never got around to flipping. It wouldn't take long to make myself sick trying to calculate what I'd have if I'd sold all my stuff at peak value.

Jon Egan Gold Ref--Bought for $30 in 05, sold last year for $8. Doesn't help that he left baseball in 06

my first 07 case break. Bought for $665, have sold 95% for $330

All my FCB group breaks--In for about $350, have about $50 worth of cards

I am waiting for somebody that shelled out $1,500 or more for those UD Game Jersey cards when they first hit the market. Or $500 for a Bowman Chrome Refractor Kerry Wood RC. Compared to that, you guys are small potatos.
