Basically someone you would never collect but had to have it because the card was so amazing to look at.

For me it was recently one of the blue hope diamond parallels. No idea who this is but wanted one.

1998 Flair Showcase Wave of the Future Todd Helton.
It's a clear card actually filled with clear gel and sparkles, to simulate water.
It's like a flat snow globe baseball card.
I thought they were so cool, so I bought the first one I saw.
This one's not mine, but it's exactly the same as the one I have.

I don't really collect just one Player or team, so most of my PC is just cards I picked up for the cool look of 'em...

1953 Bowman Color Pee Wee Reese (One below is NOT mine. I just didn't have a readily available scan of mine at the moment.)

I have a few 2009 Bowman Chrome orange and gold and one red refractors that I bought purely for aesthetics. Only the veterans and only the horizontal design like this:

The colored borders really set off the design and make many of the photos extra dramatic.

2012 Topps Chrome Yonder Alonso Atomic Refractor. It was only $5 so I figured I'll grab it. I like the looks of the atomics, and then the fact that they made this years /10. Sadly, not many of them are holding much value

I picked this up at a show recently. Not "amazing" but cool to think what could have been. (Not my photo obviously)

That is one of my favorite cards ever made the pro line I believe with wooden frame is also awesome.

My pick was based on the colors, the pieces, the pose, it's one of those cards that I stop to look at every time I pick it up. It's like a piece of artwork.

Me either. My main focus aside, I collect a slew of players and this is one of the major upsides to it. Just about every set made has at least one player I collect in it. It allows great flexibility too money wise. If I like a set but don't want to pay big money for the star guys, chances are there is a lower tier player I collect that I can pick up cheaply so I can obtain an example. This is really helpful with basketball as some of the cooler 90's inserts are out freaking rageous in price.
