Hi,

I am fairly new to the board and am a sometimes baseball box buyer that has ~ $500 - $1,000 per year to purchase cards. I see posters buying cases which would be out of the realm of possibility for most casual fans. Also, a number of people have quite a bit of knowledge regarding the industry and connections to MLB. My point - what is the profession of some of the main posters? Card shop owners, ebay shop owners, working for Topps, working for distribution companies, etc. Or do we have really really dedicated fans?

Knowing the background of posters would help me put their comments in context.

Thanks,

Some of us are adults, albeit with budgets. Some of us are kids with a ton of disposable income.

I'm an attorney.

I'm a basketball official, FHSAA, AAU, NJCAA, NCAA, and Rec. So I really only work about six months out of the year and have I don't have nearly the disposable income of most here, but I can honestly say I haven't spent a dime of my own money on cards since 2008. If I want something, I sell something else to buy it.

My occupation is collecting Omar Vizquel cards and memorabilia. In my spare time, I'm a Project Manager for IBM.

I work for Dell and our division is contracted with CHW (Catholic Healthcare West) and I am currently working on a project that will move 43 CHW hospitals from paper medical records to electronic medical records. Married with kids and all that other stuff.

When I am not moonlighting as a male chaperone, I am the CFO for a housing charity.

I have been married for over 11 years and have two boys that my world revolves around.

I'm a 37-year old English teacher with a wife and a daughter. My card buying has gone down significantly since my daughter was born almost two years ago. I like long walks on the beach and dislike rude people. :D
