I paid $1.95 each for 50 chromes on 9/26 on thepit.com, and now there is an offer for $4 each as spring training approaches. I think that they can easily sell for $10 per this year. Anybody with high hopes for him, or do you think he'll regress?

He will have a better year than last year. I saw him last thursday at the giants hotstove dinner here in Fresno. He was in great shape and has been in Arizona for two weeks already. He's working hard, expect a good year.

Wow $1.95 each! Was this for 2002 Bowman Chrome? Absolutely great deal if it was.

I hope his hard luck turns around but since the Giants didn't upgrade the offense much I expect another year with low run support. If you didn't know in 2007 & 2008 Cain had the second lowest run support in the league. Resulting in a misleading win/loss record.

Like every year I'm pulling for a huge season and a 1st no hitter.

I also expect a better year from Cain. The Giants offense will easily be better than last years. The rest of the NL West isn't exactly the AL East.

I do not expect much. I never really understood the hype around him. I always thought, at best, he was a bottom of the rotation starter with average stuff. If he gets 13-15 W's and a sub 4 era, color me impressed.

He is an above average pitcher on a shatty team. He has a career 118 ERA+ and a 2:1 K/BB ratio. Put him on a team with a good offense and he would actually have a winning record.

I expect the Giants to lose the majority of games he pitches 2-1 and despite an ERA of 3.50, he will have a losing record.

If he pitched for the Yankees, he would be a Cy young candidate year after year.

3.50 ERA, .500 record

He's wildly inconsistent and that, combined with the Giants' crappy offense, will prevent him from getting 17 wins.

I don't see his cards rising. In fact, he's been up in the majors for a while. The prospectors are going to lose interest and the player collectors will take over. Once that happens, you can forget about $10 chromes.

No kidding, I would have bought 2002 chromes all day at $1.95 if I had seen them. Nice pickup!

Johnny Rook, you have an '07 American Pastime patch card that I covet (among all the other amazing Cain cards) :!: . I have 4 of them currently.

Great buy on thepit. I've really got to start buying stuff up at the end of the year when people are dumping. I just have a hard time looking that far ahead. I like the quick flips. I think Giants might surprise us this year.

Another good buy on thepit was Joey Votto chromes at $1.00 per after the season ended. I missed those to. Now $6+ bids in for them...

Everyone is still waiting on Cain to bust out, and I feel like he will finally do it this year. I definitely said the same thing last year too though.

I'm in the same boat, I picked up 24 at that price (did you mention your purchase on the boards? I think I was clued on to it after someone here bought some and mentioned that there were more.)

Personally I think that there's a decent chance that they go up a bit more between now and when the season starts. I listed 10 of mine at $4.20 and will see what happens. I may hold the rest, or take the 100% profit now and move on. Hard to sneeze at 100% profit over the offseason.

Yeah, I posted my purchase on the boards.

Thanks for all the feedback. I think that $10 a chrome is realistic because he's capable of having a great stretch. Either way, I couldn't pass them up at that price, and they've doubled without him doing anything.

It's a prime example of how people can make great money with low risk if they are simply willing to analyze the market, and actually really learn the industry instead of simply parroting the statements and ideas of others.
