My opinion is that anyone doing any medium to large amount of selling on ebay should be buying their bubblemailers in bulk. Last time I purchased them, it was at 9 cents each.

I charge a flat rate of $3, regardless of how many items you buy. If you think my shipping is too high for one card? Buy some more.

That's my rationale.

When I ship, I will put the card(s) in a team bag sandwiched between two "cheater cards" (white chunks) in a team bag. Then, I take an old bubble mailer, cut in half, and wrap a half around the first package. Next, I will put all of that in a graded card bag. Lastly, it goes in the #000 bubble mailer. This give me the thickness required for DC.

I print my shipping labels through Paypal for 1.52 for 2 ounces.

I don't think $3 is too high for shipping IMO.

Basically the more you charge for shipping the less bids you will get
Also if you charge 4 or more I figure that into my bidding
High shipping = shooting self in the foot ::facepalm:: ::facepalm::

I charge $3.99, but that's for any amount of items won that day. It includes shipping, insurance, bubble envelope, topload (& often screwdown etc) & of course my time & fuel. If I'm making cash on shipping I sure havent noticed lol.

I think if someone charges 2 dollars for handling fees, that's well within reason.

If I don't have any bubble mailers on hand, the post office charges 1.50! Throw in the 2.20 for actual shipping and we're already at 3.70. I have no problem billing my time at minimum wage even though it's worth a lot more than that and Bammo, you're at 5.00.

The problem is, buyers are too stupid to understand actual costs.

A larger seller gets his mailers for .35 cents, and when you go to mail the products you're splitting 20 minutes between 10 people or more.

Suddenly their overhead is 48 cents rather than the 2.80 it costs to ship out a single item. There are a plethora of reasons why letting buyers rate the fairness of shipping charges is absurd, and this is one of 'em.

The market already lends advantages to larger sellers: Buyers do consider S&H charges, even if it's just at 80% (there are studies that say it may actually be 120%, not the point tho).

So the smaller business is seeing less money in his pocket to begin with because for the most part a 20 dollar card will sell for 20 - shipping.

The market rather than a buyer's rating of shipping charges should provide large-volume sellers an advantage.

eBays whole rating system is flawed.

I disagree with all of this.

mailers shouldnt cost anyone more than $.20 per. If you spend more you are just stupid or lazy.

Here is an auction for 500 x000 bubble mailers

http://cgi.ebay.com/500-Kraft-Bubble-Pa ... 4a9d080e73

That's $.13 per envelope. At a upfront cost of less than $40. I sell a card maybe once every 3 months, but guess what, 3 years ago bought one of these auctions to cover me forever.

As for gas and handling, if you are a large dealer you should be able to ship many of these at a time removing gas and drive time to the post office.

If you are not a large dealer you should consider yourself lucky that someone bought your cards and drop them off at the po during one of your other daily tasks.

For a few cards, $3 should provide you with profit and allow you to ship with dc with no problem.

Anything more is taking advantage of the buyer and trying to escape ebay fees.

I go out on a limb and figure the shipping as a part of the price of the card so it doesn't really matter what someone's shipping costs. I adjust my bid by what the total cost will be and what I'm willing to pay. It's not a tough idea.

Completely agree. It's all about total cost of bid + shipping. It doesn't matter what the shipping price is. On the flip side, I do realize that the most buyers don't get this. ::facepalm::

I got my last order of bubblemailers for 9 cents per shipped. Adam1bancroft got his last order for 7 cents per. I used to get them for much higher rates, now I save that money.

Postal carriers are forbidden to take gifts. So you get the guy written up or fired.

well even if you dont sell much Wally world has 10 for 4.50 and even then you can still get a few cents extra if you charge 3.00 for shipping so 4 is excessive
unless you get a huge lot thats different

Plus you can only purchase insurance by going to the post office, unless you want to waste money on the stupid "priority mail" which doesn't get there any faster than parcel post.

Correct, and I believe it's slightly cheaper as well. The only problems are that

1). you can only buy up to $500 online
2). if you use the USPS software, you have to have to set up a CC with them.

ditto. 3.50 was my vote. i charge 2.50 for BRAND NEW ultra pro brand sleeve, toploader AND team bag in bubble mailer, with a max of 3.00 per order. when i buy, anything 3.00 or less gets 5 stars unless it was shipped in a regular envelope. with bubble mailers, minimum through paypal shipping is 1.41 (1.22 + .19 DC). im amazed at the number of bubble mailer packages i get with a postal sticker of only 80ish cents cause the minimum for a bubble mailer should be at least 1.22. i wish my post office was charging bubble mailers at the flat envelope cost. goes to show the lack of consistency across the the po's, particularly regarding bubble mailers.
