Not sure if another surfaced but the last PSA 10 of this card went for over $2600.

Is there something special about that card besides it being a PSA 10? Is the only reason for 2600+ the fact that it's Gem?

How do you know? Weren't there a few threads about this last week and how much people hate this? I'm new here so I really don't know all that much yet.

Because its the toughest basic graded card for nolan ryan. The one that went for $2600 was the only one that was psa 10 out of 1000's submitted. The registry is huge among the player and set collectors. Having a top 5 in the PSA registry can mean 1,2... 10 times as much sale value. Nobody is going to get a good deal on this considering all of the top registry guys already know about it. I am also pretty certain that the only person on this board that would consider buying it at that price would be me.

Is it just me, or does the bottom right corner of the card look less than Gem Mint?

Ok. So there's nothing special about the 86 topps Nolan Ryan? it's not an error or anything? Just the fact that it's PSA 10? Not trying to diminish Ryan at all I used to love watching him play and I love what's he doing with the Rangers. I'm just curious.

I Haven't checked the registry, but i think there is about 6 or 7 of these PSA 10s now and they have really taken a nose dive since that first one went for $2600.

Correct, you could probably get a PSA 9 for about $8

Which means a lot, to a lot of people (I on the other hand could care less). We average over 200 cards at $5+ per card for our group submission to BGS each month. If people didnt believe in the system, no one would submit.

Now I don't feel so bad about paying $400++ for cards of prospects who have never played in the majors.
