Theresa HATES it. She won't admit it, but she does.

Naomi has clothes, toys & money in a college fund that grows weekly. Theresa has money (from me) for all the bills. But she hates when I get a bigger mailday and there's a bundle of packages in. It doesn't help that the players I collect are all struggling or are long since retired and irrelevant. She constantly says that I'm 'gay' for Josh Johnson.

If I found 20 grand on the street and spent it all on dollar cards, she would have absolutely zero idea.

Just give her "housewives of (insert any state, country, village, county, street, avenue or municipality)"

My wife actually supports my hobby, in fact she has gone on most of my card shopping and in fact...a lot of the gems I own was due to her attention to detail and my lack of the same...

Looking for Alex Rodriguez Cards, PM me.

She hated it, I guess that's one of the reasons I have put it on the back burner. I'd like to eventually get back into it but we will see.

Fortunately my wife is smart and considerate enough know that my hobbies are mine and require no involvement and/or judgment on her part. I give her the same due respect with hers.

I too am the only guy in the house....wife & 2 young daughter's. My wife is Super MOM! She has a full time job, but is also the president at the school boosters, is the troop leader for both girls Girl Scout troops (19 little girls at my house every other Saturday) so we have a garage full of craft stuff and she collects stuff too. She is great with all my collections (Matchbox/Tonka etc) and she has my girl's buy me cards for every holiday, birthday and even a surprise blaster once in a while. She has gone to shows with me before the girls came along and she said I should go to the National one year...Cool!!! I get to stop at shops or shows if we are on vacation to as I worked that into our deal.

My wife hates the hobby as a whole, but she tolerates me being involved with it. She went with me to the National this year, she seemed to enjoy all the vintage memorabilia-museum type setups but doesn't grasp the concept of the card collecting. She has asked how much I spend on my cards per week and usually its less than $20 and she thinks Im spending too much. I counter with her $55 per week on a carton of smokes. She thinks everyone who has/sells autographs have fakes and if she didn't see it signed in person then it cant be genuine.

She'd rather see me out of the hobby again.

Wow...even you guys who say she simply tolerates it don't realize how lucky you are.

Mine insists she wants me to collect and have fun with it, but quite honestly my collecting is the cause of the vast majority of our arguments. She thinks I spend too much. I have no debt, I make sure all the bills are paid, and the savings keeps growing. However, if I only spent $10/month on cards, she'd be upset that our saving isn't growing by $10/month more. If you ask her, every single bubble mailer addressed to me has a $400 card in it, which means that if I get 3 bubble mailers on a given day, I just dropped the equivalent of an entire month's mortgage payment on cards. Lately I've been selling my older stuff to fund newer stuff. At first she was cool with that, but now all of a sudden she wants to put a % on how much of my sales has to go into savings. If I agree to that %, then next month she won't be happy and will want to increase the % again. It's so tough to work with her on this sometimes.

A couple years ago I humored myself into thinking that one day she would realize how happy the hobby makes me and she would buy me some blasters for my b-day or a couple rack packs as stocking stuffers, but those days are over. Eventually I'll cave to all the nagging and I'll end up losing my 1st love to make my 2nd love happy :(

and wishes I could make money through cards.

I don't buy too many cards. Just a pack here and there, and singles off eBay for my PC.

Honestly, my wife hates it.

Her ex husband used to buy cases with the intent of making money on them.

I have NEVER been in the card game for profit. Ever. And I never will be.

I buy cards for my own personal enjoyment. The thrill of opening up that pack, not knowing what is inside. Whether or not it'll produce a huge hit, or basic singles. That's what's fun about the hobby for me.

I'll never bust wax for intent I profit.

I do it for personal enjoyment. And nothing else.

Clearly, if I were to pull a Babe Ruth autograph, I'd list it. I'm not stupid by any means.

She had better be used to it by now, since ive been collecting Bagwell since before i met her, and that was 15 years ago! Actually, shes pretty cool with it these days, just so long as im not spending much money on it. So i keep it pretty mellow, until the occasions where i need to drop a decent chunk but get a massive deal on a bunch at a time. Then i just sit there all innocent until she isnt mad anymore. Learned that move from my daughter ;)

to be brutally honest, she is just glad im not collecting wrestling figures anymore. And whenever she says anything about my Bagwells, i always remember to remind her of that! (My wrestling collection was immense - it took an entire room)

My wife is basically indifferent. I collect Iowa Hawkeyes and not many of them break the bank, so there are rarely big purchases to upset her. With baby coming in December I'm curious how both of our outlooks may change

Exactly my sentiment! I tolerate Housewives.....she semi-tolerates me buying cards!

Not reading all the predator-esq comments but my wife (I'm 40, married 15 years) loves my hobby. Certainly has the wife mojo when it comes to breaking.

Find a safe budget and go with it. It works!
