I am getting back into cards and decided to see what Naxcom is like these days. I go to their website and I found a sloppily designed site in its place called sportsbuy?

Is this a project of Naxcom's or were they (more likely) bought out by this sportsbuy?

Naxcom was a fantastic site with their sell now/buy now set-up and the ease of locating cards that were filed in a pretty systematic order. Sportsbuy is a poorly designed, hard to navigate, messy site.

So what happened?

They devolved into what you see now.I haven't used that site in well over a year.Just isn't worth the hassle.

Customer service there is horrible as well...I bought a auto off there and it wasn't in stock and asked them to refund my money and they wouldn't. I had to get a cash out which I lost a couple dollars on cause of paypal fees.

Wow, they used to be exactly the opposite, their strong point was customer service and they were the "great alternative" to eBay. Crazy how they are just the opposite now. Never will understand why sites screw things up that are working just fine. Really is impressive.

And this is why I no longer buy from that site.

I've never had a problem with them, but have only used the SportsBuy change a few times.

When I'm dealing with a site that has a balance like SportsBuy or even CardTarget, I just put in a certain amount with a plan to keep it in there until I spend it.

Their customer service has actually been decent for me as I purchased a card and the user must have been AWOL or something, and they promptly sent me my balance back.

I also bid on an auction with free shipping, but was still charged for s/h. I guess the way they do it is they charge the shipping, and then SportsBuy credits it back to you. I didn't have it in my balance to cover shipping, I just bought something since I had like $2 laying there. The CS guy worked their system to get it to go through for me. I think that may have been with Naxcom though.

Sellers double dip....they have the same item listed on ebay as they do Naxcom.....when one sells it supposedly cancels the other.......the emphasis is on the word supposedly more often then not on a hot prospect "I don't know why it didn't end the Naxcom listing". Eh, you take the good and bad.....lately more bad than good

The problem I have is the bolded.I got tired of this happening time after time.Especially when I was trying to complete my sets.It got real old real quick. It didn't use to be this way and I would always use Naxcom instead of ebay but things changed for the worse so I decided why buy from a site that I have a 50% chance of getting what I purchased at best?Seemed like a big waste of time to me but then again I guess it depends on what you are buying.

I bought alot of stuff off Naxcom right when they started up, maybe 10-20 good cards.

There are very few new listings now. If you looked up Michael Jordan, for example, you would see the exact same cards that were listed there 3 years ago.

I have found a few good steals in the auction part of the site and just flipped the cards on Ebay...

97 Thrill Seekers Kobe for $5, sold for $30 on Ebay
96 Ultra Scoring Kings Plus for $40, sold for $100 on Ebay
97 Power Alley Die-cut Ripken for $30, sold for $80 on Ebay

The auctions there are great. You know that the person listing them are active too if they're on auctions.
