That would have to be 1986, when sportflics started. Or 1981 if you count OPC.

In 1981 there was Topps, Fleer and Donruss which produced multiple rookie cards for the first time. Before these three companies there was mainly Topps with Bowman making cards from 1948 to 1955 when they were purchased by Topps. Fleer also tried their hand at making cards in 1963 but Topps was successful in stopping them.

After spending around 6-8 hours, sorting through shoe boxes of 81' Topps to put a set together. I gained appreciation for these cards enough to consider them the final vintage set.

Semi-vintage is 20 years from the current year, to 35 years from the current year. So 1978 - 1993 is semi-vintage.
Vintage is anything before that. That's just my personal judgment.
