I'm not the only one then. Next year this set will turn 30 years old and I have still only seen one Dawson in my life.

Dawson was rumored to have been buying his own 1993 Finest Refractors. Have you ever heard of him doing this with other cards? He might have the motherlode of rare parallels.

My current whale is probably a 2011 Topps Marquee Museum Collection autograph of Sandy Koufax. I figure there are 6 in PCs, 3 in unopened packs, and 1 at Topps for replacement purposes.

At this point of the Pacific Football Collection, I don't really have a white whale, but I know when it comes down to it, there will be many that I will probably never see.

The one I would really love to add to the collection by the time it's all said and done is the 2002 Atomic Game Worn Patch Brian Urlacher /2.

Otherwise, there are still over 1500 cards to add to my collection, so I haven't gone all Captain Ahab yet.

To go with the OP question. For those of you who never actually saw your whale do you think yours is burried in a collection or still in a pack sealed in a box?

I'd say there are three categories: cards that probably don't exist but are on checklists, cards that are probably still in unopened packs, and cards that are buried away in collections. The last category could be further broken down into cards that are locked down (i.e., permanent features of others' collections), and cards that someone didn't care for (or recognize the scarcity of/desire for), and just put in a random box somewhere.

Mine:

Probably don't exist:

My white whale/Big Foot/Yeti/Loc Ness Monster is something that I (and everyone esle) have no clue what this is supposed to be:

1997 All-Star NL Game Pins #2 Kenny Lofton/Craig Biggio/Tony Gywnn/Jeff Bagwell/Mike Piazza/Larry Walker/Barry Larkin/Ken Caminiti

If anyone has any clue what this might be PLMK
