I googled and found plenty of Topps Football products, what is he talking about? Anyone? What am I missing?

They lost their license. After this season they will no longer be producing football cards (or at least they can not make NFL licensed football cards).

On a positive note - nice to see an article on a major site that actually is nostalgic and supportive of the hobby. Seems lately whenever I see something about trading cards, it is either all misinformed or simply comparing it (and therefore making it look like a dead hobby) to the "boom period" in the 80's-90's which we'll probably never see again.
