What is up with this Beckham madness?

Do you guys think it's more player collectors, or investors who are driving these prices up? Are you purchasing Beckhams at these insane prices with the intention to resell, or are they for the permanent collection?

I think it's 100% player collectors driving up these prices, I should know I was one when I started collecting Markakis. I was the guy who HAD to have the newest card out as soon as possible, and in most cases for whatever the cost. Obviously I've become wiser and more frugal as the years have passed, but I really think it's the same case here, just a few collectors all jumping on the newest card out.

as an investor collector of beckham im always looking for the new card i dont have. i wont pay more money for a 2009 then i would the 2008.
yes all my beckhams are put aside for his hall of fame induction.
08 chrome prices will surely rise as beckham makes strides in his career
and for 2010 its the next rc to move on to
by doing tis year after year i have to be right sometime

Those prices are a bit nuts. Beckham is a good young player, but so are these guys:
Dexter Fowler - $4.49
Mat Gamel - $4.49
Nolan Reimold - $8.05
Chris Coghlan - $6.76
