I played Little League when I was in 3rd grade with the boys.

Then I played softball all way through college.

Played Division III softball and had a monster senior year - batted .429 and lead the league in batting average.

I now play slowpitch and last month played in a softball tournament where Vida Blue's son was the pitcher! That was pretty crazy - he had a crazy curveball!

Tossed a ball around with my dad in the back yard. Does that count? I played football, basketball, and ran cross country in high school. I regret not playing baseball.

Played four years of high school baseball as a pitcher and a back up third basemen. Pitched most of the time and as our only reliever on varsity i ended up with a 2.30 ERA until our last game. I got a horrible umpire and he would not call strikes on the corners. I had to throw it down the middle against the best team in the county. Here was my line after the inning: 1 IP 9H 6ER 2K. ::facepalm:: I miss it some damn much, but hey I still love the game.

I don't mean to brag, but:

HS Baseball career:

JV: 3B & P
Varsity: P

Pitches:
Fastball (topped out at a blazing 70mph)
Knuckle ball (sometimes I could even throw it for a strike!)

Hitting:
I don't remember my JV BA, but I did hit .333 on Varsity (oh yeah, 1 for 3 over 2 seasons)

I'm not sure why I wasn't offered a scholarship to play at Cal State Fullerton or drafted by a MLB club. I guess it was a political thing or something.

 Good story.

Pretty decent High School career-
Had a great hitting junior year--.405 with 8 homers
Had a great pitching year my senior year-- 7-1, 0.84 ERA... Only loss was a 1-0 game where the 1 run was unearned

Ended up in the Michigan record books for season and career ERA.

Had some looks from a handful of D1 schools for baseball, but I wanted to play basketball so I ended up going to DePauw University (One of the top athletic D3 schools in the nation, we're in or around the top 25 in most sports most years) to play basketball and baseball. Ended up not continuing with baseball after freshman year. Traveling across the country every other weekend from October until June while trying to keep grades up and have some sort of social life is a tough lot to balance.

I'm now a junior and have happily fallen into a roll on the basketball team starting here and there and making some big contributions in just about every game.

I've found that the biggest difference between HS and college athletics is that in HS, you can just be good and get to start every game and be a great player. In college, everyone is good so you have to earn every minute you play and every point you score. For me, this has made me much prouder of being a part of the teams here.

Played in HS and four years of Div III baseball at Swarthmore College. For you older prospectors, I played against that future Cub 3B phenom Gary Scott when he played for Villanova and Doug Glanville when he played at Penn.

Was actually a little better football player as I led the conference in receiving my senior year, even though I only played in half the games because of injury, and I hold a record that will never be broken, longest kick-off return in school history, 95 yards against Georgetown (the football program was dropped shortly after I graduated! :D ).

My football coach knew the father of Jason Garret (current Cowboys coordinator), who was a scout for the Cowboys and got me a tryout. It was pretty cool because I had to go to this indoor facility in the Meadowlands, and Jason was a QB over in Europe at the time, so he threw to me as I ran my routes. It went well, but I knew that good hands would only take me so far when you're 5'10" and 160lbs, with Div. III speed. It was tough walking away because I was playing the football of my life.

Now I'm the 2nd baseman on the 2009 MSBL Champion Media Mustangs and loving playing with the wood bat.

I was a good high school 1b, c, dh all through seinor year.

Led my high school team in most statistical categories (although I can't remember what any of them were)

I quit playing organized ball after high school because I was a highly touted offensive lineman, and decided to just go with that.

I played quite a bit as a [strike:8qdxrg06]yute[/strike:8qdxrg06] youth, at around 8 years old.

Played a bit more in my teens.

Nothing since, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express recently.

Nice pitching line. If you pitch long enough, you're bound to have a few ugly ones. My MSBL team used to play in the Las Vegas Kick-Off Classic every March. Being a team from Chicago, you have zero outside practice before the tourney. And being a weekend tourney, you need to preserve pitching for the playoffs. After winning our first game, I went out and nearly got our 3B killed. The damage was somewhere in the 10-12 run range with one rocket after another at our 3B. After awhile I really felt like throwing eephus pitches or knucklers.

Played at Lassiter HS in Marietta, GA as a LH pitcher and lettered twice. My senior year, I led the team in IP and was 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA. As a command and control lefty, I had a few college offers at D-II/D-III schools but decided it wasn't worth missing out on the big college experience.

One of the toughest decisions of my life but extremely glad I went the route I did. I tried to make the UGA squad as a walk-on my sophomore and junior years. My junior year I was one of five guys (out of around 100) that was kept around for the fall to scrimmage/practice with the team. Alas, Coach Steve Weber called me into his office the week before Thanksgiving and told me I wasn't D-I material. And that was that. His comment was probably dead-on but if anyone remembers the UGA pitching staff in the early/mid '90's, you would probably agree a lefty that actually had command and movement (still only topped out at 80 mph) couldn't be worse than most of the guys that were run out there!

We all sound like a bunch of Al Bundy's on here!

I have played since I can remember.

I am a Sophmore in High-School now, but made varsity as a Freshman, and played 6 different positions over the course of the season. I did not get lots of at bats (only around 25) but batted .356 in those at-bats. I only pitched 2 innings and ended giving up 2 runs, but striking out 3.

I played in a fall league where I hit .378 with 14 RBI's in 9 . I pitched 8 innings in this season and gave up 1 run and struck out 12.

Hopefully my playing career does not stop any time soon :D

Wish I could say I played more ball.

Stopped after sophomore year of HS because the real world showed up and hit hard.

I had tendonitis in my throwing elbow from competing in shotput, and played football as well.

Football led to a back injury and affected my being able to stand for long periods of time without pain, and also the ability to swing without pain or risk of further injury. (ended up being 3 herniated disks)

So I got a job and never looked back!

When I did play, I was a 1b and pitcher.

I played mostly 1b, but was used in relief alot because I had a split finger that looked more like a knuckleball, and would buckle guys at their knees.

When I was a freshman, I hit around 78-84 consistently on the fastball, but used a changeup and that split to fool hitters. Didnt throw for much power, so that's why I wasnt used as a starter.

When I started at 1b, we won 95% of the games. Another odd stat, in around 50ab for the year, I walked around 20 of them--so I had a good eye.

While I was playing, a scandal happened at the school and players found out that the everyday starters were also kids of parents who re-sodded the field, rebuilt the batting cages, sponsored the team, etc. Team unity was done after that.

...that's my baseball life. Wish I was still playing :(
