Your best bet for making money on less than a handful of cases of the same product is to hope the set turns to be really popular either a) because of the checklist (see: 2010 Bowman) or b) sheer value (see: 2009 Ultimate Collection) and hope for a per-box price increase. Unfortunately, this method presupposes you can sit on unopened wax without getting the itch...
A lot of the big rippers buy from the same places we all do, but they commit early and put thousands on the table. They assume part of the risk, and are rewarded if the risk pays off.
You can't buy all you need direct from the manufacturer to be a big ripper. Call topps and try to buy 25 cases of Bowman Chrome and see what happens.
