Assuming Friedman is in the running, which I doubt, what package would git-r-done?

I was thinking:

Kazmir
Navarro
and
Niemann or Davis

Thoughts?

hmmmmm, I don't think they would even be in the running, but IF....

Navarro
Davis
Niemann
Brignac

All of the ESPN peeps keep saying the B-Jays will want a shortstop in the deal.....

Just a guess

Well, I posed the question in the ESPN chat with Callis, coming up in 15 minutes. We'll see what he says.

It would have to start with Jennings and Wade Davis. They would then have to add some sort of major league talent as well.

Would the Blue Jays really trade him to a team in the division?

Yes but its gonna cost them a ton!
The sox are rumored to be in the hunt too w/ Buch/bowden/and 2 other prospects.

I have a feeling he'll end up in Philly though

David Price would ahve the head any deal.

I forgot about Price, mainly because of how forgettable he has been. I was saying to my friend last week how if they offered Price for Halladay they likely would have to do it. They would probably want more than Price alone, but he would have to be the center piece.

Price and Jennings would likely get it done.

It would cost more than that I would think. Add another player or 2..

Well hes not going to the AL East so its pretty dead. IF they are seeking SS I think the Braves need to offer Yunel Escobar and prospects to land Halladay and Scutaro. Any team that acquires Halladay will get two high 2011 Draft picks so they are saying that they need two top prospects to start talks.

I was thinking yesterday how the Giants should really try to offer the Jays basically anything, but Bumgarner in an attempt to land Halladay. Only problem is that they really need a bat also. Perhaps they can see about Overbay, Rios or even Vernon Wells, but I don't think they'd be willing to take on such money. With them being in position for the Wild Card right now, I would make the push for Halladay as a staff of Halladay, Lincecum and Cain can be VERY deadly in playoff baseball and should easily guarantee a first round win.

Seems like Hayman felt the same way:

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Jays aren't likely to deal Roy Halladay within the AL East and will likely seek premium bats and shortstops in possible deals, since Marco Scutaro becomes a free agent after the season. Heyman hears that Halladay would likely be open to playing for most contenders. Here are some details and more rumors:

* The Jays had interest in Phillies shortstop prospect Jason Donald last year.
* Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi won't publicly rule out any destinations, but it would be much more bearable for the Jays and their fans to see Halladay pitching in the NL, or at least outside the AL East.
* Heyman wonders if the Giants could have interest. Imagine a rotation with four Cy Young Award winners plus Matt Cain. However, the Giants say they're looking for offense.
* One White Sox official says the team wouldn't have traded Gordon Beckham straight up for Jake Peavy, but they would likely have to consider dealing Beckham if they want Halladay.
* Heyman hears the Cardinals may not have the prospects to acquire Halladay. Brett Wallace and Jess Todd would presumably interest the Jays.

I don't believe the Jays would have any interest in Kazmir. In fact, I recall an anonymous front office employee (assuming it was Ricciardi) stating specifically that they would not seek Kazmir due to injury concerns (and that was a couple of years ago, before Kazmir started to break down).

Jennings, Davis and Brignac would absolutely need to be mentioned.

Blah. Fasterblade, you suck. You and Jim Callis must be the same person.

Norris (Tallahassee, FL) Would the Rays be considered potential suitors for Doc Halladay? If so, what type of package would get the deal done?

Jim CallisYes, the Rays still have a lot of young talent. Might have to be something like Wade Davis, Reid Brignac and Desmond Jennings, and the Rays have enough talent at those positions to be able to afford it.

From what I understand Riccardi won't listen to anything less than a king's ransom. Starting with a top major leaguer and at the very least the system's top two prospects. For Tampa that would probably entail something more to this effect:

Kazmir
Davis
Jennings
Beckham

The Rays are not in a market or division where they can afford to try to win every year. Last year was great but they need to hold on to their young talent and build from within. I think they need to keep trotting Price out there every 5 days and let him take his lumps. Sure it may hurt them this year but you have to understand your team. The Rays are never going to be a big market team and if they want to compete with the big market teams they have to be frugal and spend wisely. If they don't think they have the players to win this year already on the roster they need to play for next season, not add a 10 million+ a year kind of guy.

Reds make more sense:

Reds get Roy

Blue Jays get Todd Frazier, Chris Valakia, Travis Wood, and Josh Roenicke
