I do know that Josh Beckett's family buys some of his.In fact right after he got drafted it was like pulling teeth trying to find any of his cards locally.I went to a few different card shops and nobody ever had anything.Supposedly his family would buy them all.

As far as collecting cards of myself if I was a player I don't think I would.I'd rather collect the other cards and let collectors have the chance to snag mine. There is just something wrong about buying your own cards.Maybe for your family but not for yourself. The only thing I can see doing is snagging lots of base and whatnot to sign for people.

I kinda agree with this. I'd rather collect my jerseys/bats, etc. And still collect cards of other players. Maybe go after some high end stuff. Buttons, sweet patches, and probably my rookie cards. But I'd probably buy bulk lots to sign and include with TTM. I think that would be fun...knowing everybody that sends a TTM request to me gets a freebie or two back. :)

The first 4 years he was in pro baseball... I helped Darin Erstad's sister (Heidi) and mom collect his cards.

When 1997 Bowman and Chrome came out, I sold a lot of lots to various players families.

I just sold a sterling black refractor of Graham Taylor. Didn't get much out of it and wondered why as I saw others sell above $10. Found out that Graham Taylor himself is buying cards. Of course if I knew that, I would have put a BIN on the card instead.

Who else purchases their own cards that you know of? I am talking about current sales, not from several years ago.

I sent Graham a bunch of his cards for his family. He shot me an email telling me if I wanted anything signed to let him know. For some reason I never took him up on his offer.
