So I sold a card on ebay, and the card went for way more than it should've. I was expecting like 10$ and it went for close to 50$. The buyer is claiming the top half of the card is bent. How should I respond?

EDIT:The buyer sent me the message on April 27th, and then on April 29th he said he would be filing a complaint and leaving me a negative. The buyer has still not done either.

EDIT: 5/4/09 So the guy neged me today, but still has not filed a claim. His feedback started with this, "Card had BADLY bent corner" But in his original message he said "the whole top of the card is bent making it virtually worthless." Which supports my previous thoughts even more.

Honestly, you're kind of screwed whether the card is bent or not. If he files a paypal claim, 99% of the time they'll rule in his favor regardless of what you might say in your defense. I'd almost be more apt to offer a refund now upon receipt of the card back to you than go through paypal, as they'll rule in his favor and he'll still have the card in hand with no incentive to get it back to you. That's how I handle these situations, although it really is BS.

Tell him he should have looked more closely and tell him not to last minute bid. The ***** probably looked at his Beckett when he won the card thinking that he had a steal and now he is trying to back out on you. Tell him that he needs glasses and that he should look closely next time.

That's what I think is going on. Also, if it means anything, the buyer didnt pay until I filed an NPB.

Yes Brent, the Howard.

I'm getting so burnt out on ebay right now. Way too many problems lately. I have a non paying bidder wanting to back out of his contract. Here are his last 4 messages:

"Please do a second chance offer,It would mean a lot.XXXX"

"thanks for your undertanding,it mean a lot!Bid was an accident and you can tell buy the offers ,I left for you.thanks XXXX"

"I just realized the time out but you.I Just Want you to know I would not pay 75.00 dollars for this card,70.00 topps!I dont evan have that much money to spend on a card like that.please understand,I will call you tomarrow,If you till dont undertand my situation.Sincerally XXXX"

This is in response to me saying I will leave a NPB strike, and it seems as though he is backing out of the deal because he found a 1/1 card he wanted to purchase (something he told me in an email)

"That would be the rudest thing ever!!I never found a card cheaper,I have not evan found a card at all, honest to god.please dont say such things when you dont know the truth,if you want to call me ,so be it.XXXX"

how bout this one. a buyer asks me to end an auction early. i do agree to sell the card for $20.00... so i pull the card and he says he can paypal me after a deposit from his bank... no problem there it seems reasonable. 4 days pass and no paypal... i contact him and he informs me that he had changed his mind. so i look through his auctions to see if he had secured one elsewhere for less... he hadnt bought one... he sold one!

That stinks. Thats why I don't take down the item until payment is received.
