This voting will be worse than Obama/McCain.

I don't think it's fair for a rare #'d insert to go up against any autograph. That being said, with how popular 90's stuff is, it wouldn't hurt to do a little of both and just retire the dull, plain white jersey relics.

I am torn. I voted gu/auto bc I love all the patches and autos in
my collection, but I'll take a rare insert or parallel over a plain gu swatch any day.

you left off the option - like both depending on the card

In a weird way this is a trick question - for me at least anyways. For me, I just need one auto (or auto/GU) of a player, because I tend to think the emphasis on an auto'ed card is on the auto and not necessarily on the card.

So having just one auto of a player is enough for me. On the other hand, having a bunch of different cards of the same player is more interesting.

But if the #/d card is from a set I'm actively collecting, this beats any auto (I'm not collecting any auto'ed sets).

So if the choice is between two sets I don't collect and one card is auto'ed and the other isn't, I'd probably go for the auto if both cards have a similar print run and I didn't already have the player's auto. Otherwise, its the #/d card all the way.

OK, I really wrote a lot here...but its not a simple question after all!

I like autos and the concept that you don't even have to go to a baseball game to obtain one.To me...that is a major thing to be able to do.At least for someone who collected as a kid and had no chance of obtaining autographs.I tend to over do things when I feel I have had them neglected which is why I went crazy when I got back in to collecting and nabbed autos of tons of different players. Its just something I never had the ability to get when I used to collect.

But I prefer the 90's inserts over anything newer(except the autos of course). The newer numbered inserts are pretty cool but the 90's stuff to me, numbered or un-numbered, is where its at.The sad thing is its a dead technology and most of the time you won't see it used. Its also the same reason I went after the Stadium Club Beam Team auto set from last year.It combined two of ym favorite things.Cool looking 90's style inserts with autos. Can't beat that!

1. depends on card

There is no way that I could say I like A better than B or C.
I cannot even say generally I like one more than the other. Every card I would consider individually as to which one I liked better.

Yeah, this is the answer. Its really impossible to tell which card is best, its really personal preference on a case-by-case basis unless you just like to follow the crowd.

Ill take an auto any day over a non-auto of any kind sticker or not. I would much rather have a low numbered parallel/insert than a base GUd, though.

It really depends. I would rather have a Topps Heritage black refractor over some sticker auto, but I would much rather have a nice on-card auto over many inserts.
