What would it take for the Brewers to trade Suppan?

Just seeing what people think. He's such a bad contract. Do you think there is another team out there that would do a crap-for-crap contract swap, hoping each player figures something out?

How much salary would Milwaukee have to eat? 90%? 80%?

I'm just thinking out loud. It would be SO nice to get rid of him for SOMETHING. I don't think he will even rate as a Class B F.A., meaning there will be nothing gained from him leaving (except the GLORIOUS payroll room).

The Brewers had to eat almost all of Bill Hall's salary (which they are now paying to the Red Sox, how's that for a financial injustice? it is what it is...). I would think we're looking at the same situation here.

Thoughts?

It would take every other ML pitcher breaking his arm

Actually, teams do need pitching, so it might be a possibility to send him to an AL team midseason if he is having a decent season

Most likely the only way Suppan is leaving Milwaukee would have to be similar to two recent deals:

Matthews to NYM where LAA picked up 95% of his contract

or

Silva for Bradley swap

At this point, it'd almost be better for Milwaukee to just release him and eat what's left on the contract (which is what Seattle probably would have done with Silva...and may do if Bradley acts up.)

I guess the question has to be: would Suppan be the WORST pitcher on EVERY MLB team, thus making a trade impossible? I don't think he would be, but I haven't checked rosters/stats.

I'd take 80% pay-off and an extremely young arm or infielder.

I think he and Bill Hall are 25% of the Brewers payroll. The only way to get rid of him is to let him finish out his contract, or just release him.

Carlos Silva...Carl Pavano...both making WAY too much money also...

A phone call to Omar Minaya.

Doug Melvin would have to tell Omar that he has a pitcher named Suppano`
