My brother in law collects Texas Longhorn players. So this year I decided to get him a few Orakpo's for Christmas. There was a sick patch card that ended on the 22nd, so I knew it wouldn't be here until after Christmas. Well, I got the package today and this is what it looked like!!!

The top left of the package (above the 1) was opened about 1/2" and the tape wasn't even sealed across the top and as you can see, the tape is DIRTY!!!

This is what the card looks like now!!!

Such a sick patch too, down the drain, ruined!!! I feel bad for my brother in law, now I have to buy something to make up for it. I'm going to ask the seller for a partial refund.

What would you do?

I would do nothing and give it to him, since he is your brother in-law for god sake.
I kid I would show those to the seller and see if you can get some money back and then
maybe you could find something else for him '

A "partial refund"? That's one lucky seller, if I were the buyer that seller would be fully reimbursing me for not packaging the item up to par (if that card were in a sealed team bag that water damage would not have occurred) & are you 100% certain the package wasn't re-used?... Did the seller insure the package? If not then they chose to take the gamble & lost as it is "THIER" responsibility to get the item to the buyer in the condition that the buyer purchased that item in, any bumps along the way (no matter how much fault it was of the Post Office's machinery or the employee's of the Post Office) & it's on the seller!

You need to let the seller know exactly what happenned (just like you told it here to us) & file a chargeback through Paypal...Make sure to contact Paypal & include the scan's you have here! I just hope that you used Paypal & didn't opt to use the "Gift" option for payment, or you will be at the mercy of the seller!

Good Luck & take care, Dave. :D
By the way, I'd go ahead & show the brother-in-law what you got him (as that is one bad-arse patch & at least he'll get to see it)!

I wasn't expecting any other cards, so I knew it was his card, so I let him open it and I was right there next to him, so he has it, he's just disappointed since it's such a nice patch.

And yes, I paid with paypal.

So should I contact the seller first and see what he says, or should I open a dispute now too. My brother in law still wants the card BTW.

Seems like that was done in transit with the stuff on the side of the card because it was not in a team bag. I think a partial refund would be appropriate, but the patch is too nice to really return IMO because of the uniqueness.

Thanks, I never thought about that, that's a good idea, I'll send Scott a message on Facebook.

Yeah, it was clearly done in transit, but if the seller would've used a sealed team bag, the odds of this happening would be slim.

I know, that's why he wants to keep the card, because of the sick patch.

if panini cant help, you could get one of the custom makers (like 200lb) to make a sweet one of a kind for your bro in law. maybe even personalize it.

The problem with the bro-in-law wanting to keep the card is that if you get a full refund then you'll have to send it back (depending upon the amount of $$ we're talking, it may be better to get a partial refund & keep the card...If the seller doesn't like that idea then say you'll just go ahead & have the full refund & you'll be happy to send him back the damaged card). Again, good luck bud! It's really a shame that a beauty of a card like that was damaged because someone couldn't use the extra penny it takes to put it in a sealed team bag! ::facepalm::
