So as to not clutter the other thread, I decided I'd like to see what people would come up with if someone gave them 52k to spend on their particular hobby with the collecting world. So here's the rules:

1.) post links to what you'd buy. It can be either a completed auction or one you'd hit the BIN on if you had the funds.
2.) scans would be great
3.) list the total spent at the top

Thats it. Let's see what we come up with. Here's my list:

There is more but what i have here totals 32,450.00

I'll add the rest as i find it!

The 1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Jeter would be mine and probably the 1998 Crusade Red Jeter any left over money would go to other rare Jeter cards I need.

I can't even begin to tell you how I can't wrap my mind around $52k on a card. I can't even think about $500 on a card, or really $300 being hard. So many things I would drop half of $52k on before a card.

So would almost all of us. This is just supposed to be a fun thread.

I'll try to play by the rules and not turn it into something different than what it is... These are the items that are available or can still be seen on completed listings on eBay only.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-UPPER-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 - $15,000 (I have heard that the selling price may be closer to $15k, so that's the # I am going to use on this)

This beauty is currently at $45k over at the Robert Edward Auctions

I'm sure it'll go higher, but as a lifetime Yankee fan and collector, I need me some '52 Mantle.

$52,000 to spend on eBay or other auction and must be on sports cards or memorabilia....hmmmm.....

I would agree with the Ruth ball for $5,000

$2650 - $1950 = $700

To be honest, I'd spend about $650 on different Jay Bruce cards to fill the voids in my PC. Some are a dollar or two and not worth posting.

And for you older FCB'rs
I'll take the Hi-Fi and Reel to Reel pkg and put the rest on a Diner's Club card Pat!

So would almost all of us. This is just supposed to be a fun thread.
Honestly didn't mean anything by my post or saying this is stupid or anything, was just making a statement almost laughing at the sale of that card.

Anyways, cool idea for a thread. If I were to drop $50k on sports stuff, a lot of people here have the same idea as me... I would buy a Babe Ruth autographed ball and then I would buy the nicest Mickey Mantle '52 Topps card I could find for the $ left over. The reasoning is I have always thought of a Babe Ruth autographed ball as being such a cornerstone baseball memorabilia piece (think the movie Sandlot) and then I have always thought of the Mantle card to be THE baseball card out there and it could also hold its value, etc.

Again, cool thread, I have enjoyed seeing the goodies in here.

I'd buy every Michael Young 1/1 available and buy boxes with the left overs. I'm all about the excitement

I'm over by $73.00, but I'll gladly kick in some personal funds. Actual recent auction prices paid.
