As I was looking at listings for Bowman Perfect Game cards I noticed something. Due to the 16-U cards in Bowman Draft several of these guys already have cards, so what would you rather have? The Bowman Draft cards or the Perfect Game cards? With draft cards you certainly have a possibility for autos but the Perfect Game cards are probably rather limited.

A few examples:

Ryan Burr: [phil:2ml9q5d7]370535293567[/phil:2ml9q5d7] - looks like he's about 3
Lance McCullers: [phil:2ml9q5d7]350486050244[/phil:2ml9q5d7] - actually had a Bowman Chrome RC
Nelson Rodriguez: [phil:2ml9q5d7]350486051058[/phil:2ml9q5d7]
Corey Seager: [phil:2ml9q5d7]350486060852[/phil:2ml9q5d7]
Lucas Sims: [phil:2ml9q5d7]350486061659[/phil:2ml9q5d7]
Alex Bregman: [phil:2ml9q5d7]330603784455[/phil:2ml9q5d7] in somewhat related news, how did this sale happen? [phil:2ml9q5d7]390335794256[/phil:2ml9q5d7]

I figure most will say the chrome but curious if anyone still likes the AFLAC, ahem, Perfect Game allure. For what its worth, most of these Chrome Autos go for very little [phil:2ml9q5d7]160631621228[/phil:2ml9q5d7] some of them will surely make good investments as these guys get more draft chatter.

I say chrome will be more popular because many collectors love the parallels (the "colors") these cards have. Now the AFLAC is just that...one plain auto card serial numbered to a random number.

I like AFLAC-type cards but if I was seriously investing in someone, I'd want their chrome and all the colors that come with it! :D

I think so too, would be an interesting comparison if a guy like Dylan Bundy had had a chrome, cause check out his recent sales:

Base AFLAC - [phil:2vm58b7e]190567550412[/phil:2vm58b7e]
IP? Auto - [phil:2vm58b7e]290599448715[/phil:2vm58b7e]

Can you imagine if Topps had printed "Topps Certified Autograph Issue" on that!

I would Prefer aflac/perfect game. I only own one aflac card, Tim beckham!

Three ways to own that card - plain AFLAC, strange cut sig in Pro Debut and in 2011 Bowman Draft...an auto. What one do you have?

I love the Aflac/Perfect Game stuff. The experience of meeting the players, getting the cards and getting autographs is certainly one of the most exciting days of the year. I keep a set and most of the autos for myself and move other stuff to recoup costs.

As for the Chrome stuff, it would be my choice for investing would probably choose them over Aflac if I could not attend the Aflac games.

I'd feel like such a chomo buying that Ryan Burr card.

I hear you...we've hit 16 U now...I wonder when prospecting will start happening with the LLWS and that sort of thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Topps or another company produces a LLWS set.

The BC Autos are going to be more valuable. Regular AFLAC cards don't really do much once the player has other cards to buy...the only reason that the Dylan Bundy went for so much is, he has nothing else. If you have a choice between Bowman Chrome Autograph or regular AFLAC card, I think it's a no-brainer.

I'd take neither. I understand Olympic cards and maybe 1st Round Draft Pick subsets. Now there's high school and U-16 cards? Next there will be Little League World Series cards or "Greenbough County Regional T-Ball Championships" cards.

I'm not a prospector though. I can understand the attraction of it, but it doesn't interest me.
