Is he going to sign a long term contract with the Nats, a short -term contract, or is he going to go to another team for a short or long term deal?

What's the latest word?

He's going to sign with the Detroit Tigers.

I actually have no idea, but this seems to make sense for both parties..Detroit needs a big bat for the middle of their lineup and at least one corner outfield spot plus a DH spot fairly open. Dunn would get money in return, because the Tigers have lots to spend.

he is going to sign with the Braves and play 1B/LF till Freeman can establish himself as the everyday 1B. Then Dunn will be the everyday LF.

Well that is what I would like to see happen. That or the Braves sign Prince Fielder.

Pending the McCourt situation, I heard the Dodgers would give him a look for their left fielder.

Dunn wants a long term deal, the Nats want short term.

The Nats and Dunn are keeping negotiations quiet, not too much being said publicly. Dunn is strictly business about this kind of stuff, doesn't like to showboat in the press. He was upset with the team for shopping him so publicly.

Based off what I've read, I'd put it at 50-50 right now. One camp thinks the Nats want to go with a better defender (like Pena) to complement the young middle of the infield. The other thinks that there is only one 40 HR threat in the world who WANTS to play in Washington, and that is Adam Dunn.

In the past few day news that Dunn might be a Type B free agent could motivate the Nats to resign him since they won't get 2 picks- a big reason why they didn't trade him at the deadline (they assumed he would be a Type A).

Dunn also doesn't want to DH, which almost any AL team would want him to do.

As a Nats fan, I hate this logic that the Nats are using. I can't see how a better fielder who hits .200 is better than a weak fielder who bats .260-.270 and hits 40 HRs. Seems to me the extra 30 hits a year (assuming 500 ABs) is better than they 20 errors he MIGHT save, plus the young middle infield will improve. Odds are, Pena wont improve much at the plate.

If he came to Baltimore, I could see him hitting 50 HR...

Would look good playing in Wrigley but doubt they come up the money he is looking for.
