What's the deal with postage due?

Thats why i always goto the PO and have them stamp it and send it. if there is a problem with postage then its there fault.

Not true, I had 2 come back postage due around 4 months ago while on vacation.

I had another arrive with $1.05 due yesterday. Another #000 bubble with just a toploader inside, and a 90-cent APC stamp on it. No DC. Didn't measure but it was surely less than 3/4" thick, whether that matters or not. Another instance where it was free shipping for a couple cheap cards so I don't mind getting dinged the extra $1.05 so much, but it's kind of annoying. At least the mailman left the package along with a slip requesting payment.

I wonder if the PO hasn't had some sort of directive to collect as much money as is conceivably possible before Congress decides to kill it once and for all. Or else we just got some new people at mine and they are doing things differently.

It does indeed sound like they're cracking down, but it could be new people as well. If their profit is being calculated based on the mailing rates for letters and packages and such that they publicize, no wonder they're bleeding money based on just the examples in this thread of sellers trying to get by with shipping with less postage than required.

As for yours, anything rigid has to be sent at the minimum $1.95 package (parcel) rate (unless sent in a letter no more than 6 x 11 x 1/4" thick). If you send in a letter envelope, you can add on the $0.20 nonmachinable surcharge and send it for $0.65. But there is no nonmachinable surcharge for flats/large envelopes (that's what rate the seller used for to come up with $0.90 postage), so you can't send it for just the large envelope rate. Or at least not from your seller's post office and/or to your post office, where at least one of them is cracking down.

Seems like we can expect to see more and more of it, at any rate.

Then you should of gone to the PO and told them that they screwed up beacuse they did.
