Because i think that Cubs/Brewers game (at 2hrs. 15min.) was one of the shorest I've ever seen. Sure, it would have been nice for a Brewer win, but whatever. These games hardly matter, but I might have been bummed if i paid good money for a crazy-short game :)

I remember watching a mariner game that was super short a few years ago... maybe not the record but it was really fast.

and then I went to one a ways back that was on pace to be one of the shortest, but thankfully it slowed down (I was feeling ripped off!)

I think baseball reference has the answer

9/28/19 NY 6, PHL 1....
51 mins!

WOW, whats amazing about that is the score.. usually a short game is 1-0, 2-1, 2-0 etc.

I thought the same - I definitely expected to find a 1-0 game.

Not a scoreless game, a commercial-less game. No advertising between innings = quick!

Wow. The Phillies' style of play must have been changed drastically over the last 90+ years. Over the last 10 years, the Phillies have been known to have long games. I don't know how or why it's like that, but their games tend to be very long.

When I had Rangers season tickets in '98, I kept scorecards and wrote the game time on most of them. They were usually in the 3-hour+ range, but I recall one that ended in just over 2. I got home so early it was bizarre.

I always wondered about those <1 hour games. How is that even possible? For 9 innings, that's 51 batters minimum, plus at least 1 to score. Did they make it George Carlin rules (love that routine) where if the pitcher hits the batter, the batter's out? I seem to faintly recall reading something about a really short game where everyone swung at the first pitch as a protest of the owners or something.

YOU KNOW
it could have been rained out after 4 1/2 innings and so it would be an official game then

Most Mets games this year are over by the 3rd, does that count? I'm a Muts fan.
