What's up with Player-Worn in A&G?

I don't mean game used, I mean player worn. I have noticed (mainly with BJ Upton, but with a few other players) that their "GU" are actually shirt pieces. They even say "player worn" on the card.

I am not ranting against Topps because they are honest about it at least, but are these rarer than game used, or do they have anything special about them?

Just curious for general information is all.

They're player worn. That "player" is Irene in accounting, who plays third at the Topps company softball game

The Rays player worn pieces are from their travel blazers. Neat idea.
