Here is the link

Aren't all of the 1997 EX Fleer Essential Credentials numbered to 99 and this one is numbered to 299 like the regular Credentials. What throws me off is that it says Essential Credentials on the front and has the shiny surface like an essential credential but it is numbered to 299 like the regular credentials. Have these been faked? If anyone knows what the deal is please let me know. Thanks.

Like to know as well. The Credentials is silver looking and /299 as this is numbered. But the front is definitely Essential Credentials and should be /99.

I love it when I'm watching someone that nobody else sees... and someone here shines a spotlight on it.

Love it.

This is a huge overstatement... FCB plays a tiny part in the sports card market, and there are at least 6 to 12 FCBers who were watching this.

You guys think you are the only one watching something on ebay ever? Not likely…unless it is miss listed so badly that daily searches that many people make won't catch it.

Do these errors exist for all players? This is the first one I recall seeing of anyone.

Also, I don't see anything wrong with posting an active auction when the title is very clear. Now if someone were to draw attention to something listed as bad as this one, 301765561880, I might be a bit upset.

Nope. You're all wrong. FCB is the only place people go to follow ebay auctions.

I wasn't saying nobody saw it. That'd be ridiculous to think. But certain auctions may or may not be overlooked if there's no discussion about them. I'm guessing at least 10 Frank Thomas fans now know this is a super rare error card now, that didn't know before. Not saying people don't have the right to post about auctions, or shouldn't post about them. It's just a little frustrating when you know a single post/discussion caused your competition to increase. (Just speaking in general, I wasn't planning on bidding on this anyway).

So about the card itself, from what I remember, Fleer accidentally printed 5 sets of these [non]essential credential sets. (#100/299) to 105/299). Most of those sets were destroyed, but a few of the stars were kept/backdoored by Fleer employees. So there are somewhere between 1 and 5 of these Frank Thomas cards out there. I'm not really a fan of these, because honestly, the only variation is a wrong serial #, which actually devalues the other Essential Credentials because it means more than 99 of them exist.

I have only seen a handful of these errors throughout the entirety of the set. I guess I should have been willing to bid more since I think the buyer paid a great price.

I am pretty sure I seen a Bernie, I JUST thought it was just a higher numberd one. Not ERROR OR RARE.

Personally, that is what I was hoping that eBay viewers would have thought, especially with as many people view the site on their mobile devices. Still kicking myself for not bidding.

Thanks for the explanation of what this card is, I honestly was just looking for some information on it, as I was going to bid on it but then I noticed the serial number being off and it scared me from making a serious bid. If this is a back door version or something that wasn't in the packs it just doesn't appeal to me as much as the regular Essential Credentials. Thanks for the info, and judging by the price I don't think I really drove the price up by posting as this one finished in line with past auctions.
