1B Ike Davis sat out Tuesday's game against the Nationals, with the Mets continuing to practice caution after Davis' Valley Fever diagnosis in spring training. Davis had a routine checkup with team doctors Tuesday morning, and manager Terry Collins said he would have rested Davis Tuesday even if he was not 0-for-15 to start the season. Davis ran that streak to 0-for-16 with a pinch-hit strikeout in the seventh inning.

Valley fever is no joke. Anyone living in AZ has known someone who has had it, or had it themselves. It really takes a toll on your body.

On the topic of 0fers, I believe Alex Gordon has very similar stats (0-17 with 8 or 9 Ks).

So far he hasn't been able to hit a slider or curve. On top of that, he swings at just about everything. And for a little extra, he's been mouthing off to umpires since he's been called up, so he's getting bad calls.

He is starting to come around. 3 HR in his last 4 games.

I hope he keeps playing well, he has come along since the beginning of the season, and 2 of his HR came off breaking balls. I hope so as a Mets fan and as a collector starting to put together a small Davis collection....
